Story

Lotus Realm Emporium and Music Shop is the Biggest Little Music shop in the Coromandel region. It started life as a Market Barrow Stall in Grahamstown at theThames Markets in 1998, then it bloomed into a tiny secondhand store a couple of years later which further blossomed into a pukka gift shop and music shop, with a wholesale wing importing goods from Australia, India, Indonesia and has evolved as a buddhist Work-as-spiritual-practice model. The Team includes a diverse and talented bunch of individuals who enjoy being part of an enterprise that is aiming to bring more creativity and positive values into the local community. The Lotus Realm is part of the Sudarshanaloka Trust, a registered charity, and supports the efforts of the local Sudarshanaloka Retreat Centre situated in a lush bushclad valleyt at Tararu, Thames. The shop acts as a bit of a "front door" to the Retreat Centre and a supply stop for Retreatant needs. We love to meet locals and visitors to our little town (and we are at the cool end of town, in fact we have helped make it the cool end of town!). Lotus Realm also is the home of the Grahamstown Gazette, a little homegrown newsletter promoting creativity, wellbeing, community values and quirky humour. It is entirely free and produced and distributed by volunteers. We welcome involvement in our various activities by volunteers, so if you have some time, skills or enthusiasm to offer, and want to hang out with some friendly folk please come and see us.

Great staff, great vibe. Really cool stock. Little area for concerts loks rad too.
A little gem of shop. My delight was chancing on their eclectic book library and for a gold coin koha the opportunity to borrow for 3 weeks. Made my heart sing for the trust in customer to return. No name or number taken. Faith and trust wonderful values delivered with a smile:
Lotus Realm is a centre of conversation, information and learning, not just a music shop. Instruments for sale, tuition connections, exhibitions, music groups/concerts/ gigs in the rear of the shop. Spiritual gifts, crystals and garments. Worth checking out when you visit the Saturday market or any day of the week
I called these good people re a guitar capo. They were informative, polite and enthusiastic. The capo arrived the next day. Great service all round! Thanks!
A Thames treasure. Really helpful staff and a commitment to the community. Interesting selection of merchandise, but I have been there mostly for musical instruments and repairs.
Friendly and helpful. Music staff know their stuff and if they don't have what you want they will do their best to get it. Interesting art exhibitions too.
Had a great Sunday afternoon listening to a friends band in the auditorium through the back. Tea and coffe served at half time. Nice friendly staff.
Last music night we went too was Andrew White. Bought his most recent CD at the end of his set. Cool intemit venue.
