I don't really like Indian food. I'm expect some is OK but in 70 years all I've found is meat so overcooked it's utterly characterless. Sauces so laden with things like yogurt and ghee that after a meal I just feel like a blob. Prices that just don't make any sense. I've eaten so many cuisines I've lost count but the only one I've not ever really liked are Indian. I'd probably fare better if an Indian person could guide me but on every such occasion I've come away dissatisfied. Paid a large price for a tiny dish I'd not ever think of eating if it was not for me being social. Add to that this restaurant is in an earthquake prone building and I'm wondering if I'd ever go back. I'll look towards being convinced otherwise. Perhaps to do so won't cost me a fortune for what is basically mass preproduced street food.
A small Indian restaurant in Timaru. They offer dining in and takeaway. They are a popular franchise of Little India chain around New Zealand. Comparatively to Christchurch, Rolleston branches, it is small. They offer alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and other usual drinks too. There was a bold guy at the counter who I would not say good in customer service. He hasn't got it. Street parking might be available, but dnt worry, u have onsite parking just by the location. But, they dnt have chaai which is a downside.
Very well cooked and presented dishes, we specially appreciated the salty dhal, and gulab jamoon. The chai masala was disappointing by comparison., but that was a minor niggle.Food: 4/5
Overnight stay in Timaru and too busy to leave the motel to venture out for an evening meal. Ordered tandoori chicken as a starter from these guys. Fast delivery and absolutely superb. Back down in a few weeks and guess what? Yep, tandoori chicken it’ll be again.
Do not purchase through Deliver Easy. The food does not come with rice, but they still charge more than they do in store before you even pay for rice. Leading to the meal costing almost double before even taking into account the delivery charge. I mean come on, who in their right mind would order a main without rice? Just add the cost of rice into the cost of the main.
Had some samosa's which was just to say samosa not with goody's flavor, very fresh as and the expectation doesn't met. My review is not to disliking the foodstuffs overthere but to find better one tomorrow. Please make sure you guy's serving the best Indian recipes around the town and maintain the foods in very very high standard in terms of it's taste and demand.
