Always an excellent place to learn, and the most helpful staff imaginable, a real pleasure to be in such a supportive environment.
Good experience, I was well attended to
A great resource and a fantastic historical building.
What can you say really, it's the library, you're gonna have to use it anyway. Personally it could do with a bit of a revamp, could make it larger especially since it's expected there will be an influx of students in the future. The facilities it provides have been adequate for me, although I have heard from other students that some, such as dissertation writing, are inadequate. There is also a nice little Costs coffee stall upon entrance.
First of all the architecture is amazing! An old industrial building adapted into a modern library without losing its inherent history. It has a wide variety of very useful books and is very spacious with several group rooms to pick from. It is open to all students and staff of the university who gain entry by swiping identity cards, and non-university members have access too- although limited. Of course the standard photocopiers and printers are available as well as huge plotters for anyone looking to print larger than an a3 sheet. Self-service kiosks are on all floors so you can be your own librarian if you are averse to human contact, but if you are not, there are cheerful people at the desk waiting to help out throughout the day. It is open every day of the week 24 hours a day but on certain pre-announced days it closes at certain times hardly ever. There is a little sandwich and coffee kiosk on the ground floor as well as vending machines for when you get hungry and cold food is allowed on all floors but the 3rd floor which is the silent floor- there is hardly any sound on this floor. All in all it is a pretty decent set up and the only con I would give it is that it does not allow anything but cold food sandwiches, salads etc so if you are thinking of grabbing a burger and fries and heading to the library, you are moving in the wrong direction. Hopefully there will be a “hot food section” pretty soon.
Best experience I ever had during student life going to Library Floor wise silence level is maintained
The staff in the library a so nice and very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and the library is always clean, tidy and welcoming.
Amazing collection of art books and art magazines / journals. "More book" scheme allows staff and students to request purchases... They've bought everything I've requested, unless unavailable.
Great place to focus and get some academic work done
Brilliant - chilled place to study. Staff are always patient and helpful.
