Light Nelson is an Illuminated, interactive and lively series of events that capitalizes on the artistic strengths and spirit of the Nelson community.

Story

Light Nelson is a year round project culminating in an event that celebrates talent, generosity, ingenuity, art and the Nelson community.

Light Nelson is a unique organisation consisting of three entities, The Collective, The Light Nelson Trust and The Selection Committee.

The Light Nelson Trust was established in 2013 through the Light Nelson collective and is tasked with producing the Light Nelson event. Following the success of the first three events in 2013 and 2014 and 2016 the Trust is working hard to facilitate the 2018 event (watch this space!).

Education is a big part of Light Nelson. The Collective offers an ongoing non competitive environment in which people can develop skills and/or pass on skills to others.

Although Light Nelson is an artist driven event it is a fantastic opportunity for people with a wide range of skills to get involved. It also offers an opportunity for some unlikely collaborations between people of very differing backgrounds and expertise as well as an opportunity to learn new skills and to be inspired to follow a new path.

We aim to make the Light Nelson event unique and to reflect the diversity, the community spirit, the artistic talents and the ingenuity of the people of Nelson. We believe that everybody in this city has something to offer Light Nelson.
