Story

The café is only one hour’s drive north of Auckland, and is the perfect place to spend a weekend - have a good meal or 2, go to the beach, catch a band and stay the night in a comfortable suite just 50 metres away.

With our gourmet pizzas and fresh fish, the Sawmill Café offers international cuisine with a unique New Zealand flavour. We source the best local wines and produce, organic where possible, providing people with healthy, balanced cuisine. We are fully licensed and offer an extensive wine and beer menu, a great cocktail list, health drinks and Allpress coffee.

The Sawmill has played host to a varied portfolio of live music over the last decade - and proudly supports New Zealand music.

Great place. We had lunch there on Sunday but I would love to be there on a Friday or Saturday night. They host live bands and a great garden bar. Nearby activities: Central to katakana markets, goat island tours, the warf, so much to do. Walkability: Easy walk to town Food & drinks: Lots of choice including fresh fish from Leigh fisheries, and even fried pizzas
Lovely place in the middle of nowhere. Saw a band I really liked. Helpful staff. Shame the main food didn’t run a bit longer into the evening but they still cooked pizzas until quite late though which were yum.
Just fantastic to have the mill back up and running as it should! Fabulous new menu, with some old favourites too, couldn't pass up on a Gratuitous or Edzotic pizza which are still delicious working nicely alongside the market fish dish and other new dishes. Great friendly service, and the ole ambience puts this fab place back on the must list. Looking forward to our next visit already, thanks guys :
Great place for dinner! We shared just about everything on the menu and all the dishes were amazing, especially the ceviche. We received some great service from very friendly staff too. Definitely will be back!
Menu is fairly limited, we were hoping for a couple of beers and fish & chips or burgers, not much typical pub food available. Waitresses were excellent. Venue is really good.Service: 5/5
Pizza, chips and drinks is all we had, but man we were impresed. The pizza was some of the best we've ever had, the parmesan chips were tasty and crispy. Service was surprisingly quick even though they were at capacity. Wait staff were friendly and table checked us once. Definitely worth a drop in.
We visited Goat Island Marine Reserve and made a stop at Leigh Sawmill for coffee and an early lunch. The experience was so enjoyable that we returned for a late lunch and indulged in cocktails/beer. The food was incredibly tasty and delicious, and the staff played a significant role in making our Saturday outing truly awesome. Thank you, Team! Nearby activities: Goat Island Marine Reserve is another 8 minutes drive from the restaurant.
Amazing meals, atmosphere & service. The steak was cooked perfectly & melted in my mouth. Phenomenal comeback for the Guiness family! Congratulations & Good luckService: 5/5
Compared to previous visits, my last was a bit disappointing. After waiting 45 min in the heat for opening time, I then waited another 10 min before the doors opened. They knew I was there. They had no Sawmill beer available. Seriously. The food was excellent, but rather overpriced, and needed a few more light meal options. It's no longer a place to drop in for a nice beer and feed after a hot day exploring the area
The new set-up is incredible, new menu has to be the best food in the area by far and the hospitality is great. So good to see the sawmill back on the map. We will be back!Rooms: 5/5
