Had a great week with Hugo at Salty Sailing doing my day skippers course. Even with rough and windy conditions Hugo helped us learn and refine skills to safely and confidently skipper a sailing yacht. Hugo’s style was brilliant for us to learn, he was relaxed and was incredibly informative in a manner that allowed practical application of the theory. I’m really looking forward to going back to Salty Sailing to do me Power Boat Level 2 and hopefully my Yacht Master in the future. Thanks again for a great week.
I have no hesitation whatsoever recommending Salty Sailing. My wife, son, his girlfriend and myself variously did our Day Skipper Practical and Competent Crew RYA qualifications in early June 2023. Hugo was an excellent instructor who covered the syllabuses in a relaxed but thorough way that helped us all develop both our skills and our confidence. Precision is a lovely yacht to learn on and Hugo ensured that we were comfortable and well fed! He is also a very nice young man!
An exceptional weekend with the crew from Salty Sailing.The boat was so well maintained and a pleasure to live aboard and sail. Everything worked ! Our instructor, Cherie, was so patient and flexible with the agenda for the skills and drills weekend and a great teacher. It was also a welcome pleasure to start the day in Cowes rather than sailing out of Hamble or Lymington. Would happily recommend Hugo and the crew for any level of experience.
I have already sailed twice with Salty Sailing - once for my day skipper practical course and now for a weekender refresher cruise, and honestly recommend them as a great company to sail with. The boat is in great condition: clean, modern, well equipped. I honesty can’t remember ever chartering a boat that was so well maintained and a pleasure to sleep on. All other equipment is new, clean and well kept as well. Hugo is a fabulous teacher and I really gained a lot of confidence during the course. He’s patinent, friendly, helpful and really helped us improve our skills. He’s got a vast knowledge and sailing experience and I really appreciated learning the practical skills form him as we practiced manoeuvres or planned our passage. As a regular to IOW I’m pleased to see an independent business grow and do so well. I’d recommend Salty Sailing to anyone who wants to gain sailing qualifications, improve their skills or get into sailing in a friendly and relaxed environment. I will be booking another passage or cruise with them in the coming months.

I recently completed my Yachtmaster Offshore training with Salty Sailing, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The tailored course and responsive communication exceeded my expectations. Hugo provided a supportive and engaging learning environment, conveying all the theory and refining our sailing skills for the Yachtmaster examination. The well-maintained training vessel offered hands-on practice, and the course covered all aspects required for my success in the Yachtmaster exam. I can highly recommend going with Salty Sailing for any training course, and again thank you Hugo for the wonderful experience!
Just booked a day skipper course with Salty Sailing. The process was extremely easy and Hugo was instrumental in the process - so helpful and friendly. There are some great reviews for the company and I am very much looking forward to sailing with them!
What a great experience…. We had the boat for a day with Fergus skipper. 2 adults and 2 boys 5 and 8. Fergus had the boys involved all day from raising the sails to dropping the anchor to helping with lunch and they loved it and so did we…. Boat was lovely - Fergus was great - definitely recommend….
5 days of day skipper practical course with one of the best yacht master instructor Paul Weinberg. What an amazing 5 days it's been sailing from Cowes to Southampton, Newtown creek, Portsmouth and back to Cowes. Got to learn and practice so many manoeuvres on sail and under engine. Feeling so grateful and happy and looking forward to more sailing soon. Thank you Salty sailing for providing this opportunity and the best instructors.
The taster day was amazing! Me and my partner wanted to give it a try and see how we feel about sailing before committing further. Salty sailing were great. We were well looked after onboard, Hugo and Cherie taught us the basics and were great company. Couldn’t have asked for more, highly recommend!
