Le Cafe Picton

About

Le Café Picton - a favourite of locals and globe trotters alike - stunning views over the Marlborough Sounds, an ever changing seasonal menu and live music

Story

In April ’95 Le Café opened its doors to a modestly developed Picton, a then relatively sleepy transit town in the top of the South Island, New Zealand.Le Café brought the first “Real Coffee Machine” to town, marking the start of many locals’ addiction to the brown stuff.

After 5 years of trading Le Café shifted to its current location, doubling in size with a view second to none. That shift saw Le Café take a step towards restaurant as much as cafe.

We now feature over 50 predominantly local wines, various beers, spirits, a selection of cigars and generally sell anything that can be eaten, carried, worn, drunk, or smoked….and still don’t do chips….or frozen fish, for that matter.

The 12+ years of trading history has made Le Café Picton one of the country’s well recognized brands in the industry. Le Café now prides itself on operating on a average of 360 days a year morning ’til night. The only days of closure are X-mas day and the odd staff outing.

With a total capacity of up to 120 pax,we can handle groups of up to 45 pax in a private seating, as the restaurant is divided into two sectors.

Le Café is absolutely incredible! The fish they serve is beyond amazing, and their homemade noodles are so delicious that they will make your mouth water. Not only that, but the service is top-notch, making the entire dining experience truly unforgettable. I can't recommend Le Café enough to anyone who is looking for a remarkable dining experience.
- Great views: located just in front of the beach. - Outdoor seating available. - Great, fresh atmosphere. - Homemade bakery. - Healthy sandwiches.
Called in today for a muffin and a drink - I had a flat white and mum had tea. Zero complaints! Really friendly staff, savory muffins were delish, drinks were perfect, nice to hear kiwi dub and ultra clean bathrooms. Nice view of the bay too :-Food: 4/5
Beautiful outdoor views. I was very pleased with my vegan sandwich and mochacchino with oat milk. Staff was all lovely and efficient.Food: 5/5
Can’t recommend this place at all. You definitely won’t be getting service with a smile. We ordered plum tart and elderberry sorbet. Horrifying. Plum tart was just sugar, the sorbet was also awful. Not even having sugar on a spoon can compare. Just horrible. Ate the tart just because i felt sorry for spending the money, left all the sorbet. My stomach was crying after the tart. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
We had our winter wine club dinner here last night Pete and his team supplied us with great food and front of house looked after us wonderfully thanks Pete for a brilliant nightFood: 5/5
Great spot overlooking water. Usually I'd rate them higher but this time they slipped a bit. Coffee and food slow coming out. People ordering after us were served first and good arrived cold. Last time there was better and we will go backFood: 3/5
We were so looking forward to a nice breakfast so disappointed to be served bacon that was so over cooked and salty. Hangover breakfast was once again so heavily seasoned , to salty to be enjoyed. We spent over a hundred dollars. Portions very small for the price. Very disappointing.Food: 1/5
Fantastic place with an extensive beer selection. Enjoy outdoor seating with scenic views of ferries.Food: 5/5
What a rip off! A vegetarian sandwich consisting of two slices of toasted bread, two slices of mushroom, a scattering of grated carrot, some sliced onion, a piece of Brie and LOTS of lettuce with some relish cost $13.50! No avocado, no tomato…and no option to build your own sandwich. At least the view over the harbour was nice.
