I have not personally stayed at the Lancewood Lodge, but I can assure you that some truly wonderful, phenomenal people own and operate it.nnSome context: my daughter is studying abroad in New Zealand for the semester from Upstate New York in the US. After a series of really unfortunate, improbable, and weather-related events, she found herself stranded in Auckland, trying to get to Wellington. Long story short, she made every effort to get to college on her own. She got as far as Bulls, about 2.5 hrs away from her destination. There was not a clear path forward, and there were no travel options for the rest of the night. She was frightened, exhausted, and unsure of her next move.nnHer wonderful liaison at the college somehow knew to specifically reach out to Lancewood Lodge. They offered to not only pick her up from her location nearby, but to look after her & make sure she was able to get a bus to Wellington the next morning.nnFrom what I gather, this isn’t an establishment with shuttle service or travel / hospitality amenities of the sort they provided to my daughter in her moment of need. They are just good, warm, and compassionate people who made a young woman feel safe and cared for when she needed it.nnI can’t tell you a thing about the physical premises or its proximity to area attractions, but I can tell you how they make people feel when they stay there. For a parent on the other side of the globe anxiously awaiting any word of help, I’ll be forever grateful that she found people of the sort at Lancewood Lodge.
horrible sleeping arrangement my bed was crawling with bugs and had stains, the owners were very rude and not inviting at all. Although the neighbours were very lovely and enjoyed them more than the actual owners. I recommend not booking here as the hospitality was not it.
Comfy, warm & quiet. Great place for taking a break from the Te Araroa trail. Rhys & Jo very friendly and helpful.
Lovely place to stay. Rhys and his mum were both very friendly. The house is gorgeous and immaculate. Lots of hot water.nParking is good and safely off-road. Very good location for us as we had left Christchurch that morning, taken the 2pm ferry and then driven north. Arrived in Bulls around 8pm.
I had a great stay at Lancewood, Rhys was very friendly and helpful with my booking. Comfortable and spacious rooms with everything you need. I would stay here again. Thank you!
