Awesome lake in the middle of the North Island in New Zealand. Lots of fun activities for the entire family all year round. Drives to the thermal walks and spas are not far from the city. I would highly recommend doing the lake cruise as you get to see some really awesome Maori artwork and a close up view of mount Mordor!
This biggest freshwater lake in Australasia is somewhere you really don't want to miss it.nnIt's about the size of Singapore, can you imagine how big is that?nnAfter many years I finally had another chance to come back and visit.nnI still remember the first time I walk along the lake side, but I guess I was staying on the other side of the lake not the city side here.
Been here a few times. Took a day trip over King's Birthday weekend from Auckland. Visited a cute open air bakery, great afghan cookies! Can't recall the name. Still has the awesome music store on the corner too, full of vinyl!nA few little souvenir shops with some beautiful trinkets & the standard touristy items! Wasn't the best weather, but Taupō is always an A+ for the views! National treasure
Enjoying the morning at the lake, fresh air and nice scenery. Great place.
We took the fast jet boat ride to Huka Falls. Amazing experience.
