Usually have lunch here once or twice I year when in the area. Every single time I have the fish and chips because it couldn't be topped...or so I thought. Today I tried the steak burger. Now I'm thinking of relocating just to be closer. Also some guy was cranking out some old tunes on his violin and various other instruments. Really laid back pleasant vibe, thoroughly enjoyed.
We had heard through the grapevine that the meals here were delicious so we decided to stop by while we were passing through. They did not disappoint. Despite being very busy, the staff were friendly and courteous, and although it took a little longer than usual for the food to arrive, it was worth the wait. Came out piping hot and it was indeed delicious. Compliments to the chef!
Whitebait fritter was a total win. I measured this by the food envy I DIDN’T have of anyone else’s meal. Happy days. It was only beaten by the stunning view, right out to the southern alps. We do live in paradise.
We love this place because every year they take great care of our dear sweet auntie. She loves to stay the night and they really look after her by making sure she has everything she needs. She's been there 15 times! Thank you so much for looking out for her!Rooms: 5/5
The location is excellent but they have no umbrellas outside and hardly any covered tables. The service was shockingly bad as we waited 40 mins for 2x fish and chips and watched as others who came after us got served first. No warning about a delay and no acknowledgement when it got delivered. The food was good but as we were going for a 3 course dinner we didn't need a whole plate each so shared. Could definitely do with improving service and adding some umbrellas outside of people are going to wait ages for simple meals. The reply from the owner missed the point of my review which was the lack of courtesy or warning that they would have a delay. Having a booking vs not having a booking is beside the point.
Great food, great view and great ambience! Our group had the fish and chips and wings and loved it.
Great friendly service from a very busy waitress. Been here several times and always enjoy the atmosphere and the views from the hotel and from our room. The chowder at lunch was excellent, lots of fish content. Fish 2 pieces, chips and salad were up to the usual high standard. Generous serving and good value for the price. A wonderful surprise in the afternoon from a talented old gentleman who played violin and sang. Bed was comfortable, everything was clean and tidy. We do have a suggestion. A little after 9pm the very loud alarms went off. With the other guests we assembled in the corridor, not knowing whether there was a fire, where in the building it might be, or how to turn off the alarm. It eventually stopped. Would have been good to have a phone number to ring and report it. Good breakfast. We will be back!
I LOVE this place. It's just awesome. Lovely team, just awesome .... like going back to the 80's for real .... I love it.
Stopped in while on a drive around the area and thankful that I did! Seafood chowder was spectacular and went down lovely with a cold beer, not to mention the beautiful scenery while enjoying your meal! Am looking forward to coming here again on my next visit to the area.Service: 4/5
Buffalo wings ok but needed much more sauce or sauce on the side for dipping. Fish and chips were good fresh and real but similar to any decent bar. Side salad had no dressing at all on it.
