Me, my wife and a guest of ours from Italy did the kayak gloworm tour. WOW, what an experience! The equipment and supplied splash clothing were good. The briefing was concise and to the point, as were the safety checks. Our guides Steve and Dan were great and very professional. It was great to learn some of the history of this area of the river. The absolute highlight was kayaking the canyon and seeing the thousands of glow worms, simply stunning!
If you want to experience: twilight kayaking seeing thousands of glow worms while floating on the river watching stars sitting in a kayak in the middle of the lake Then you need to contact these guys! We loved our trip and will come back again for the cycling and walking tour! The team is very friendly and knowledgeable, you don't even need to worry about safety while kayaking at night, just trust them, they know what they are doing!
We are two families hired 4 kayaks for a half day for a self guided kayak tour on a Waikato river. All the service by a team was perfect from the explanation by phone call in the beginning till the end of the day. They were kind, patient, and professional. Provided all the equipment and made all safety explanations. The whole experience exceeded the expectation, although one of the teams was flipped . The river and especially the brach were amazing. The paddling in small canyon was one of the best experiences in all the trip to NZ. You feel like in Avatar movie set.
Friendly and helpful staff, good quality hire gear kayaks and life jacket in this case. It looked like they have all sorts of hire gear like electric and normal bikes as well as water activity gear. We did a self guided tour up the nearby river where there is amazing scenery.
We had the best time on our Riverside triventure yesterday! The Waikato River has such varied and beautiful sights to see by foot, bike and kayak, and we got to see all of them in just one day with the triventure package. The team at Riverside Adventures were so kind, knowledgable and friendly, and we'll absolutely be looking to come down again for one of the night time glow worm kayak trips!
Fantastic team to go with. We did the 60km Te Awa ride along the bank of the Waikato river on E Bikes. Was absolutely brilliant. Quality bikes and good safety and instructional talk before we see off. The company supplies bike and helmet. Lofty was great, and pointed out places of interest during the shuttle driver to the starting point.
Took a couple of ebike out for a ride along the Waikato river trail. Beautify scenery and a nice track to ride effortlessly on an ebike. Highlights were swinging bridge, tui sculpture and beautiful scenery. Shame no cafe open at half way! Next time perhaps.
First off, the staff / guides are exceptional. Friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and kept us very safe getting in and out of the kayaks. They supply everything and give clear instructions. The glow worms were stunning as we drifted past with the current. But the scenery in the daylight was equally worth seeing.
We did the evening glow worm kayak tour. Fantastic from start to finish. Good equipment, thorough briefing and a relaxed paddle through a beautiful area. The glow worms after dark were a phenomenal sight. Highly recommend this tour.
Absolutely amazing and a must-do! I lived in NZ for many years and have done loads of different activities all over the country but this was by far one of the best! The experience to kayak up the gorge and then float down after sundown seeing hundreds if not thousands of glowworms was just breathtaking! I have never seen something that beautiful before and I have been to many glow worm caves and adventures before. We were also very lucky to have a crystal clear night which meant we saw many stars, the milky way and even some shooting stars. Our guides were amazing as well - all in all this is an experience I would highly recommend :
