Il lago Taupo è un lago di origine vulcanica situato nell'Isola del Nord in Nuova Zelanda. Con una superficie di 616 chilometri quadrati è il più grande lago per superficie del paese, e il più grande lago d'acqua dolce dell'intera Oceania.Il lago Taupo ha un perimetro di circa 193 chilometri, e una profondità massima di 186 metri. Il principale emissario è il fiume Waikato (il più lungo fiume della Nuova Zelanda), mentre i suoi principali immissari sono i fiumi Waitahanui, Tongariro e Taupo Tauranga.

When you visit Taupo don’t miss the sunset by the lake. The #LOVETAUPO sign is a nice spot to watch the sunset and take photos. The view from the Hilton is also breath taking.
beautiful lake better come in summer
This is one of the best lakes in New Zealand. It's very large and a great lake for water skiing, kayaking, sailing and many other activities. There are many places to sit down and relax. You can book a boat to see the great Maori Rock carvings. There are some places where you can lit a gas BBQ if you are out on a picnic or something. The lake is by the Taupo town center. So you can access to all kinds of foods, entertainment and activities for kids. On a day with clear skies you can see Mount Ruapehu I loved it here. Everytime I drive south I never miss to make a stop by the Taupo lake. Sunsets are beautiful. I recommend everyone to visit this lovely lake
The largest lake in New Zealand and North Island with 616km2. It's calm and beautiful. Lots of activities happen on the lake: kayaking, paragliding, cruise, jetboat...... Motels and restaurants are just on the lake side.
Great place to be. Fishing, swimming, water skiing sightseeing with a boat..... The lake is amazing, it's so large and so many wonderful views.
We enjoyed our family picnic last 13 October 2019. Heaps of lovely birds such as seagulls and geese. Amazing view of the clear blue waters and snow-capped mountain. Nice to swim in the water as well.

Absolutely stunning views. Very quite and peaceful. Highly recommended to Visit during the weekday, otherwise you wont be able to take a phote without capturing asian tourists. There is a lot of stuff to do. Can go paragliding, fishing, kayaking, swimming and much more. You can watch a lot of birds including blue ducks and black swans.
What to say, on a nice day it cannot get better. A splash in the lake for a morning refresher with the sun on the mountains. One of the best sceneries in the country.
This Lake is huge - in fact the largest in New Zealand. We stooped by the Lake side for a Photo Shoot on our way from Rotorua to Wellington. You can also see snow clad mountains behind the Lake. This Lake was created due to a volcanic eruption many many years ago. The volcanic ash, turned into very light stones, can be found in plenty here. The stones are porous and that makes them very light. Its a beautiful Lake surrounded by natural beauty in abundance.
