Waffles were soft with maple and banana and very fluffy, open sandwich was nice and flavourable and waffle with berry sauce and yoghurt was a special treat. Lovely brunch on our travels to Opunake.
I’ve had a read through of the other reviews of La Bull, and I am not surprised to learn that the owners cannot handle any feedback – I expect a smart alack response to this review given their attitude with other customers. So be it.nnI went to La Bull recently, as I was passing through on a solo trip across the north island. The aesthetics were nice, and it was a warm stop on a cold today — with heaters going full bore.nnThe blonde woman taking my order was very unwelcoming, and barely listened to a word I said. I had to politely correct her a few times as she wasn’t too busy fiddling with the computer to hear what I was trying to say. She overcharged me too, but I didn’t bother saying anything. — not worth the fuss.nnRight after I sat down, I heard her talking about me quite loudly behind the counter with a younger waitress. If you want to complain about a customer, at least do it in the back room, or after your shift like a moderately socially aware person. It felt very awkward, and I immediately regretted my stop in.nnI can see why there are so many negative reviews regarding the younger waiters, given that this is the example they have learnt from.nnIf you don’t mind being treated like a pest, or lukewarm coffee, you should try La Bull on your way through town.
Nice locals atmosphere in this cafe/bar. Busy Wednesday lunchtime but the staff were coping well. Decent menu but we went for the cabinet food and enjoyed it. Very good coffee.
Best coffee I’ve had in a long time! Stopped in for a late breakfast/early lunch and coffee. Very cute atmosphere with extremely friendly staff. The long black was simply divine. We had their burger and omelette, and both were excellent. Their homemade balsamic dressing on the side salad was scrumptious.
This is usually such a lovely place that we visit quite often, being Rangitikei locals. Today I had a terrible experience amplified by a poor attitude response from some of the staff.nnTable of 5 and the eggs on toast gets dumped on the table and the rest of the meals follow quite some time later. Coffees are ordered extra hot but arrive cold. We ask for it to be reheated and our request is met with attitude. It would seem that all other coffee shops in NZ can fulfil this request without burning the milk yet here we had to listen to grumbles and moans about how hotter isn't possible.nnDisappointing experience and as we all know, it only takes one bad experience to divert our business elsewhere in the future.
