Lovely bush, some Kauri tree, nice walk. Dog friendly! Short walk, around 30 mins.
Good distance to stop over and do an hour loop track. Enjoyed the views, the shoe-cleaning stations were operating well and plentiful. There was a recent fallen tree that we had to get past right at the start of the track but other than that, it was fine.
So blessed to live near this reserve. The Upper Loop Track offers a solid short walk through the offerings of Mother Nature, with sure footing along some thoughtful man made boardwalks. Appreciate the time and effort put in by both, all for our enjoyment.
Stopped by looking for a place to walk around and take photos - Kowhai Park is stunning, even in the rain! There's something about the trees here and the old kiln in amongst them that's just a sight to marvel and wonder at and get the creativity buzzing... 4 stars only because one of the tracks was closed! Would recommend if you're looking for a quick hike in the area :
There some great small tracks. A little uneven grounds and lots of stairs for toddlers but my little one enjoyed himself. It's very peaceful and nicely sheltered from the sun.
