Best Hostel I have been to, during my whole time in New Zealand! The rooms are small,but there is so much to enjoy at that place that it does not matter at all. The people working there are extremely welcoming and supporting. Keith even got us Turkeys for Christmas, which we then cooked together. I would 100% recommend to stay there
Best hostel I've ever been to! Awesome location, ocean is just across the street! It's cheap and feels like a big family! Love and miss everyone so much! I've u are a backpacker: They'll get u jobs as soon as u arrive to earn money as easy as possible!
Amazing hostel with amazing location. Countdown, Pack n' Save and Warehouse easily reachable by foot 5min. Located at the beachfront. It's a working hostel, where Garry the manager makes a big effort to find work for everyone, who want's to work got a good job a day after my arrival. The hostel is well equipped with 4 kitchens, a pool billiard room, a table football table and a hot tub. There is free washing and good wifi and there is always some activity going on on the weekends. The people staying there are super friendly international backpackers, who stay there for a longer time to work and earn some money. I really enjoyed the nice, welcoming atmosphere throughout my 5 week long stay. Elias
I don't really like to give a too bad review but as I was only staying for 2 nights.... this hostel is full with long-term backpackers. It's a typical hostel not extremely clean, feet smell, noisy and a bit of party. The guys were really nice and while the management was away they made me feel very welcome. The owner itself helps a lot and came up greeting me by name. It's a family atmosphere.
One of the best Working-Hostels I've ever been to!! Super nice staff, comitted and full of events every week, totally recommended! For those who don't care about people so much: They have a whirlpool, pool table and 20meters to the sea;
This is the working hostel everyone comes back to because it has a family atmosphere and is lots of fun! The owner and manager always make sure everyone is happy and help find jobs too. Right by the beach and close to the city centre. Warning: hard to leave <3
There is literally no reason to go to another backpackers in this town, in my opinion. Keith is a selfless host, and goes far out of his way for his guests. There is a group of travellers here, and you will be welcomed by all. There is more than enough facilities. There's free bikes. This reads like an advertisement, but it's really not. Do yourself a favour and stay here if you want to hang with some chill people and have a clean and comfy bed.
I was there just for a one night but it looks like a family hostel because I felt a very nice atmosphere there and Gary is very friendly owner who can even help you to find a job or get some another advice. Thank you and have a good travellers! :
Stayed there in 2011 for over a month, my resume of 7 Month NZ was, that I had the best time in this Hostel. In 2011 it was called waterfront lodge! Beautiful there!!!
One of the best hostels I've been. Keith run this place like a champ always keen to answer and help your needs. You will always find good ppl and work here.
