Story

Kinloch is a small but growing town on the most northerly bay of Lake Taupo, by road northwest of Taupo on the North Island Volcanic Plateau of New Zealand. It is in the Waikato Region.Originally a sheep station, Kinloch later developed as a holiday destination with baches being built next to the lake. The town itself was laid out in 1962 by Prime Minister of New Zealand Keith Holyoake.Kinloch has a mixture of permanent residents and holiday makers. The lake is used for trout fishing, alongside water-skiing and wake boarding. The Kinloch Club golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in March 2007.Kinloch has early childhood education through the Lakeland Mobile Kindergarten service and bus access to Marotiri Primary School. Kinloch also hosts a French community, epitomised by the "Crouton" cafe. The Kinloch Volunteer Fire Brigade also services the area and is an auxiliary brigade meaning it is run by Taupo's brigade.
