We stayed at the Homstead for 4 nights as we had a family reunion over the four days in Kerikeri. We highly reccomment staying here. Bookings were easy. On arrival we were welcomed and it was a hassle free stay. Staff were friendly and professional. Rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Great swimming pool and spa pool area. Great location and within walking distance to the local shops. Great parking and the Kerikeri Sports Bar and Bistro for meals is next door.
Disgusting human being at the front counter. 10/7/26 at 1700. My 2 children went to pay for the laundry. We got to the laundry and the 2x washing machines were busy and still had 25 mins. As we were limited on time my 2 children went and asked for our money back so we could go to the laundromat. The receptionist said no so I went in there and explained why we couldn’t wait 25 mins and asked for our money back. The receptionist was a smart ass and said I didn’t so no to your children. Well why didn’t you give them the money back then I replied. Her response was well I didn’t know there was 4 of you. I said pardon. She said I didn’t know there were 4 of you staying in the room. I said excuse me. How dare you accuse me of having 4 stay in the room. I said we are here for a footy carnival & my son is actually staying at a Marae but is here spending time with us for the afternoon but thank you for being even ruder and accusing us of doing the wrong thing. All I can say is what an absolute hindrance to your business and motel. The face and first impression and what an absolute disgrace. Never again will we stay there or recommend this place to family or friends.
1 star – cleanliness was very poor. Our room at Kerikeri Homestead Motel had black grime in the basin and a significant amount of mould in the shower. The carpet and entire room smelt strongly of body odour/sweat. The cushions and throws on the bed were so unpleasant that we removed them completely.nnI raised these issues with the manager when we checked out this morning, however she advised that everything is cleaned regularly, which unfortunately did not reflect the condition of our room.nnAs we arrived very late at night we stayed, but otherwise we would have found alternative accommodation. We stayed there for a few nights and it was terrible. The cleaners did not do their job at all: the room was very dirty, the bathroom was never cleaned, and they only made the bed. Carpet was dirty from day 1!!nWe even had a cockroach in the room I can post the picture if required — completely unacceptable for the price. There were strong cooking smells from the neighbouring room coming into ours, and we could also hear the neighbour snoring.nnAbsolutely TERRIBLE SERVICE.
Hamilton couple: This spot was fantastic! We were exhausted after travelling/driving most of the day. We were given a chalet type room...so spacious, comfy and clean. Reception was welcoming and inviting. The motel itself is well-situated to walk to town. We enjoyed our stay and managed to relax for 1 night - thank you. Highly recommended.
