Very nice but sad place to visit, but always very looked after, I when to pay my respects to my pasted loved ones, and clear there resting place. They were all to young to past my grandad and 2 Aunties, but we all do at some point, so I say this make the most of the time with the people you love when they are still around, I do know it's not easy for some to hear me talk like that, but I have learnt to make the most of the time we have and be positive and injoy everything
I visited the Book of Memories on the Anniversary of a death to see the name written in the Book. This is the only public memorial for the person as ashes were scattered in the rose garden after cremation. The room where the Book is displayed felt respectful and quiet, not morbid or gloomy. There are shelves for visitors to leave dried posies and ornaments. A cluster of jars in a corner wait for flowers. A peaceful visit.
I find it mostly quiet and tranquil. After visiting my loved ones resting place I like to take a pleasent walk among the headstones and around the area. There are some nice trees but I'd like to see more such as the wonderful plantings in the Napier Road Cemetery There is a wonderful view of the Ruahine ranges and out across the nearby city. It's beautiful on summer evenings when the Cemetery has later opening hours.
An office is conveniently located near the front gate where you can ask for directions to the burial plot you're visiting. A friendly lady at the office is at hand so your queries won't be met with a dead silence or come to a dead stop.nnIt was my first time to visit this place and being met by a warm and welcoming staff and not by a cold stare or cold shoulder is surely a memory one wouldn't want to bury.nnOh, one more... There's mobile 4G signal so it's possible to livestream the interment. Surely not a deadspot.
Always tidy and well kept. Everyone is friendly and respectfuland the gazebos, pond and kids room are all fantastic ideas
