Story

Hi I am Kayla - a NZ Registered Teacher. During the day i am Mum to two boys and after school i am a teacher from my home!

I currently tutor two learners in my home. This is place to share their learning and success with family and the wider community. We are often putting together interesting information and presentations but didn't have an audience to share our learning stories and successes with - Thank You for coming to be part of our audience.

One learner is a year 8 boy, he is working around curriculum level 1- 2 and has struggled in the traditional school system. We base our learning around the NZ Curriculum Key Competencies and learn literacy and numeracy skills through outdoor activities, planning, discussing, attempting and reflecting on building projects, building lego, science experiments and physical activities.

The other learner is a year 7 girl who I give extra support in Maths. We do a lot of basic facts practice and learn maths skills and concepts through planning and presenting ongoing investigations, like predicting, measuring and reporting on the weekly weight and growth of our backyard chickens as they are raised from 1 day old.
