Stopped by Kaye's factory shop in Invercargill and scored some amazing deals! The prices on the seconds are fantastic. I grabbed some Caramel Slice, Belgium Biscuits, and a pack of Melting Moments. It's authentic home-style baking at a fraction of the cost. Definitely worth the trip!
It's always nice to pop in to Kaye's Bakery to see what they have on offer, but it's kinda dangerous too because they have such yummy looking stuff. You may go in for a bag of gingernut seconds and then some gingernut seconds, Anzac seconds, slice, a carrot cake and a bacon & egg pie later you leave the store LOL nThe staff are friendly and the parking outside is ample.nEnter at own risk...but in a good way!
Kayes Bakery a delight for well priced bakery goods and awesome deals on factory seconds. Fabulous staff and great selection of products including catering sponge, cakes and savouries. Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
Very disappointed as I tried these very exact Belgium biscuit roughly two years ago thought I would purchase these as I came across them in countdown and was left very disappointed as I spent just about $9 on these biscuit that had very little to nothing jam filling inside , Will not be purchasing these again as I was very disappointed , the company needs to do better
The biscuits 2nds are very good even if broken. No more iced afghans though?11nThe unprooved crossitants though are pretty awful ...I was told by a kayes staff member to defrost them for a couple of hours and cook then they will be fine but actually no they don't work...they don't rise, go soggy in the middle and crispy on the outside I also tried to rise them in a warm oven and it failed Only buy if you have time to defrost the day before and even then they turn more like a bread than a crossitant. In the future I will buy elsewhere as they don't seem to stock preprooved ones harldy ever.
