We did from Charleston to the beach today and return. Brilliant track, a lot of effort has gone into it! Worse part was the 2km section of gravel road after the spectacular bush sections. Feels a little narrow when passing others but very well designed track. Suggest kilometers signs to track progress. Definitely recommend a pit stop at the Charleston pub at the end!!!
Had a great day on the trail. It has got everything: coastal views, beautiful windy bush sections, it keeps the riding very interesting. Biked from Westport to Okari Lagoon and back. Rented the e bikes from Cycle Journeys. Bikes were very comfy and Rachel was so nice and helpful.
This is an amazing trail. One of the best we have done.nWe rode it in heavy fog so missed the vista of the coast but loved the beautiful bush sections. The surface is great and there is lots of variety. Certainly will recommend to others.
We biked from Lighthouse to Carters beach with my 5years old. So consider us as beginners. It was perfect, well maintained biking trail. Well marked, signs where you need to slow down, beautiful scenery, not so busy.nnMy husband and our 7years old went to Tauranga Bay and they said it was stunning too. Probably little bit more technical for beginners level as she had crash in one sharp turn there, but even if you are intermediate you won't have issue at all.nnDefinitely want to do it again!!!! Well done and thank you! We had so much fun.
As a novice and not on a mountain bike, this trail was perfect, blue metal, with board walks and even bridges. History plaques along the way and Maori inspired weather shelters. Well done on a great trek. Enjoy a meal or drink at Donald's.
