Very nice place, but this is NOT a freedom camp, even if it shows up in Google looking for freedom camping and there are some reviews saying it is free. Following these indications we accidentally parked at night at somebody's place and in the morning the management was very understanding with the situation, even helping us planning our trip for the following days! Thank you very much!
Didn't stay but we were there for The Great Kiwi Summer Festival. It was great seeing the activities and a wide range of tents. Armistice was also happening, and it was amazing. We're definitely thinking of camping here next year and seeing 2 days of the events.
Lovely site, well kept, clean facilities, kitchen, showers hot water. Staffvery friendly & helpful. Small cafe on site for coffee, cakes etc. Would stay again.Service: 5/5
Great spot with easy access to the lake. Limited kitchen and bathroom utilities. I can imagine this would be an issue when it's really busy but it was sweet for us. We found the unpowered camp sites weren't so clearly marked and it was a bit of a guessing game.
Had my first camping here with my partner, was super fun. Facilities were considerate. Will comeback.Rooms: 5/5
Infalatable course was awesome. Accesable cafe coffee food area was closed. Great if u have boat like waters sports great rowing. Rooms: U can camp but absolutelyNO DOGS peeps and alway keep it clean
Great site really good facilities, clean and well maintained.Even a microwave and refrigerator in the kitchen also a laundry room on a council run site great. The only downside is traffic noise, made worse being in a tent, so always carry ear plugs. Nearby activities: Resevoir allows for swimming and boarding all sailing activities. Walkability: Cycle path to nearest town.
Lovely camping spot by Lake Karapiro with a cafe across the road. Camp kitchen and bathroom were clean. The fridge doesn’t seem to be working that well when I visited. Large camping grounds. Would recommend the upper section as it’s closer to the amenities. Reception staff were lovely and checking in was nice and quick. Thank you for a lovely stay!
One of the best campsites I’ve been to in North Island. At only $20 a night, there were spotless facilities such as toilets, showers, kitchen, and laundry. The grounds themselves were immaculate and the lake easily accessible. It’s a beautiful place to stop and have a swim before settling in for the night.
Beautiful place gold stars Just update maps as it gives the impression that the road is closed when it is only the road to the karapiro dam is closed causing many extra miles in travelLocation: 5/5
