Just arrived back from a amazing overnight trip with Kapiti Nature Tours . We took out 2 teenage boys who absolutely loved it as well. Some highlights were the speedy boat ride over , the Takahae just chilling out by the lodges , the cheeky but not too cheeky kaka , the noisy little blue penguins, getting to see a kiwi on the night walk, the views and of course the food and hospitality. The food was really sensational and the relaxed but informative guides created a very memorable experience. Would totally recommend all New Zealanders visit this magical place.
We went on a half day trip to Kapiti Island. A friendly team met us on Paraparaumu Beach and helped us on to the boat bound for the island. The guide who greeted there us was kind and informative. She started walking with us and then allowed us to follow the trails independently giving us directions to the lodge to have lunch. Listen carefully as the lodge is on private land and therefore is not on the map provided by the Department of Conservation.nThe island is beautiful and filled with bird songs. It’s best to study up before you go so you can know which bird to look for when you hear it!
Recently held our Company Christmas outing on the Kapiti Island. The experience was very well organized from the time of booking to check in, awesome guided tour and lunch. It was all amazing and we are thanking all the staff and crew for making it a really memorable trip. Special mention to Tim and Sophie for explaining all there is to know about the island, it was very interesting. The buffet lunch was superb and the little gift shop was so lovely, would have to mention the boat crew for taking us on safely but were so entertaining as well. Thank you for all your work!
We had the most wonderful time with Kapiti Island Nature Tours!nWe are a family of four, and were persuaded by Åsa that we ought to book the overnight experience, rather than simply a day trip as we had planned. We are so fortunate she made the effort to talk us into it - it was absolutely brilliant.nnOn Day 1, we boated over in the morning, enjoyed a guided tour, and were then left to our own devices and decided to walk up to the summit. It was wonderful - the walk up the Trig Track was tough fairly grim silence for much of it! but the reward was great - beautiful scenery the whole way, and amazing views at the top!nnAfter we returned, we boated to the other end of the island where we were greeted by our host, Manaki I hope I have spelled this right and settled in to our accommodation a cabin for two of us and a glamping tent for the other two, which was very comfortable. There was so much bird life right at the lodge itself, including two takahe and their chick, kaka, kakariki, kereru, tui and many others. We had a lovely afternoon just wandering around, and two of us went for a swim in the bay.nnThat night, after a hearty dinner, we went on a night tour, during which saw two kiwi wow!. The night tour was great fun, especially for the kids.nnThe following day, we had until 2.30pm to do whatever we wanted - the only thing scheduled was lunch at 1.00pm which, again, was hearty and delicious. We spent the day doing another bush walk less challenging this time and relaxing.nnAll in all, it was unique and memorable. We were very well looked after and the accommodation was welcoming and comfortable. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it
Be prepared for your trip to be canceled in your face even after arrival and check in. In a region full of boats they obviously have no contingency plan if something happens to theirs. Communication from staff was poor.nAfter traveling with a school group and this happening we were pretty let down.
