Recently held our Company Christmas outing on the Kapiti Island. The experience was very well organized from the time of booking to check in, awesome guided tour and lunch. It was all amazing and we are thanking all the staff and crew for making it a really memorable trip. Special mention to Tim and Sophie for explaining all there is to know about the island, it was very interesting. The buffet lunch was superb and the little gift shop was so lovely, would have to mention the boat crew for taking us on safely but were so entertaining as well. Thank you for all your work!
We had the most wonderful time with Kapiti Island Nature Tours!nWe are a family of four, and were persuaded by Åsa that we ought to book the overnight experience, rather than simply a day trip as we had planned. We are so fortunate she made the effort to talk us into it - it was absolutely brilliant.nnOn Day 1, we boated over in the morning, enjoyed a guided tour, and were then left to our own devices and decided to walk up to the summit. It was wonderful - the walk up the Trig Track was tough fairly grim silence for much of it! but the reward was great - beautiful scenery the whole way, and amazing views at the top!nnAfter we returned, we boated to the other end of the island where we were greeted by our host, Manaki I hope I have spelled this right and settled in to our accommodation a cabin for two of us and a glamping tent for the other two, which was very comfortable. There was so much bird life right at the lodge itself, including two takahe and their chick, kaka, kakariki, kereru, tui and many others. We had a lovely afternoon just wandering around, and two of us went for a swim in the bay.nnThat night, after a hearty dinner, we went on a night tour, during which saw two kiwi wow!. The night tour was great fun, especially for the kids.nnThe following day, we had until 2.30pm to do whatever we wanted - the only thing scheduled was lunch at 1.00pm which, again, was hearty and delicious. We spent the day doing another bush walk less challenging this time and relaxing.nnAll in all, it was unique and memorable. We were very well looked after and the accommodation was welcoming and comfortable. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it
What an amazing tour, makes me so proud to be a kiwi. The professionalism and knowledge Pania shared was simply astounding. Tama you put us all at ease on the boat, great fun, we even saw dolphins on the way back. Kapiti Island is beautiful, a great walk to the top to lunch with the Wekas, cheeky birds. Highlight, seeing the rare Saddleback, truly grateful, what a day.
Amazing overnight stay. Totally recommend. We walked up the trig track first day. Amazing view at the look out. Cool to see all our special birds. The walk the second day was lovely through the manuka/kanuka bush, then along the coast. The lodge was welcoming and relaxed, fantastic hospitality. 100%.
Kapiti Island was absolutely amazing. If you're at all interested in birds, you really are missing out, if you don't visit this magical place. Actually, if you like animals, hikes, sunrises/sunsets or just nature altogether, you will love Kapiti Island.nnWe booked a long time ago, since we are from overseas, and we have been looking forward to this ever since. It did not dissapoint in any way, in fact it exceeded every expectation we had. Every part of the experience was so special, and the service and hospitality of the people working at Kapiti Island and Kapiti Island Nature Tours was professional and yet deeply personal. We had some trouble getting there our own fault, and the crew were so helpful, and figured out ways to make our trip work out perfectly anyway.nThe guides were great and very knowledgeable. The schedule was planned in such a way, that we had more than enough time to explore on our own. The cabins were cozy and clean. The food was wonderful.nnWe are spending four weeks total in New Zealand, and even though we still have a week and a half to go, I have no doubt that this will be the highlight of our trip. If we ever get the possibility to go back to New Zealand, we'll definetly visit Kapiti Island again.
