Story

Welcome to Kalm Designs, top quality garments for breast feeding mums, proudly made right here in NZ.

Kalm came about when I was invited to a summer wedding last year. Babies were welcome and I loved the idea of taking along my wee girl, aged 6 weeks old, so I went looking for a suitable nursing top… but I couldn’t really find anything to breastfeed in that I would want to wear to a special occasion!
There was plenty of block coloured knit tops out there but nothing that made me feel feminine, nothing stylish and special enough for a wedding on a warm summers day. ..
Having a background in fashion design and dressmaking I was able to make a tunic top, a combination of ultra soft knit fabric overlaid with a floaty floral woven fabric that was ideal.
It was so successful that I couldn’t wait to make up a few more designs for myself - life was literally transformed – I could easily feed my baby in public without exposing myself. Clever design meant no need to show my mummy tummy or breasts to the world! I felt great meeting girlfriends for coffee in town, shopping, even going the odd dinner out. What a difference!
Soon my friends were asking me where they could get my tops from, and the seeds were sown for a business that would allow me to work from home, spending more precious time with my daughter.

My aim is to bring beautiful, hand crafted garments to nursing mothers everywhere that will help them jump back into life as we know it.

The Products

Kalm is our premium range combining super soft stretch knits with classic woven fabrics to give a more tailored, smart finish. We incorporate clever detailing meaning absolute minimal exposure when nursing with fabulous finishing touches to have you feeling a million dollars. Something really special to celebrate the woman you are.

K’Otic is our everyday wear range – designed with you in mind! Life may indeed be chaotic but getting dressed doesn’t have to be! Easy care, easy wear knits and woven fabrics ideal for slipping down to the mall or grabbing the groceries, to coffee group, school run and more. Dress them up or dress them down – make it work for you.

And the best part? Both our ranges are designed to be worn long after you’re finished breast feeding. No-one will ever guess it’s a nursing garment!


Returns policy

Measure carefully (size chart supplied) as we will only exchange or offer shop credit if the fit isn’t right, or you change your mind. Full refund in the extremely unlikely case of defective workmanship.
