Kakanui School serves the township of Kakanui and its surrounding district. It provides high quality education for students in Years 1 to 8.
The students enjoy learning and playing in well-resourced classrooms and expansive grounds.
The facilities include a computer suite, heated swimming pool, and new hall/ library with up to date book collection also new audio and visual equipment and musical instruments.
The school has developed positive relationships within the community as a variety of local people share their knowledge and expertise with the students.
Students have access to many interesting learning experiences beyond the school including ski trips to Roundhill Skifield for all class levels.
The Kakanui Playgroup meets weekly at the school and preschool children spend time in the junior classroom.
Students work, learn and play in a supportive caring and family-like enviroment. They enjoy the sense of fun teachers bring to their learning and appreciate the choices they can make in their learning and their play thus developing respectful relationships between students and adults.
Enviromental studies are a major part of the learning for all students. Students are developing responsible attitudes towards their immediate and wider environment.
