Very poor service. Didn’t get seen by nurse other than when being booked at reception where nurse gave triage score. Seen by a healthcare assistant an hour later to obtain reason information related to reason for presentation. She was triaged T3 which means she needs to be within 30mins on arrival. She was told she has wait in que for appointment patients at GP are being seen. She is no point of triaging if patients cant be seen according to priority. I don’t understand the point of triage and then waiting in que of 10 patients at GP clinic side. Very poor service and poor use of resources. When I went to talk to triage nurse, the healthcare assistant pulled the triage nurse while I was still talking to the nurse. She took the nurse to the room to feed her about me. My mum was refused to lie down even though she was having severe headache, vomiting in waiting room and feeling dizzy. She was told she has to wait in the chair in the waiting room before 10 other patients. The healthcare assistant seemed to consider herself as the manager of the place.nThe young receptionist at GP clinic was very helpful and kind.nReceived good service from doctor too.
This has to have been the best experience I’ve ever had in a hospital. The doctors and nurses were fantastic and friendly. They took the time to explain what was going on. Nothing was rushed and you were respected as a human being. It’s very whanau orientated which I was super impressed with. Having been a patient in Auckland Hospital, it’s definitely better to be looked after here.
I would just like to thank the team in day surgery on their professional services. I had a colonoscopy performed by Dr Jason Hill and after an experience 20 years ago was terrified to have this procedure. It was a breeze Dr Hill spoke and showed me the examination was so very gentle and caring I cannot praise him enough, look forward to seeing him again in 5 years. Kaitaia Hospital is doing an amazing job. Please keep day surgery up here in the Far North.
Went to a&e 5am ish b4 new years nice anough staff had mad fevers but face time doctor just prescribed panadole and ibuprofen to control it. Did not get better drove 8 hours south cutting short rare holiday. After after bloods and urine test had a infected liver and the ibuprofen had cause stomach bleeds. Not ideal
This is a great little hospital.nMy experience is with Day Surgery and the care received was great.nEach professional took a lot of time to explain what was happening before and after the procedure and the specialist was super qualified.nEveryone I encountered was kind.I was pretty hesitant about having to go all the way to Kaitaia as my local would normally be Whangarei but I'd happily do it again as there you most likely get a specialist rather than a technician.
