This is a lovely place to come for a coffee or walk. The walk is about 45min to 1hr. It is also pushchair friendly with only a couple of spots that were a bit difficult to push through due to gravel or uphill. I take my 2 year old and baby here and we all love it. The plants are lovely and the sculptures keep the toddler interested. The sculptures change occasionally to keep things interesting. And if you really like one you can buy most of them! The cafe is a nice outdoor area with some toys for the kids. They do have blankets should it get a little cold. The staff, particularly in the cafe are all young, likely teens. Polite and kind. They make a great toasted sandwich.
I had a brilliant morning visiting the Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens From the second you enter, there are interesting things to explore. They have a big nursery with beautiful and interesting plants and flowers They also have a lovely cafe serving delicious hot coffee and tasty treats and food The main attraction is their expansive garden, filled with sculptures and art work There are interactive sculptures that either make music, or refract light, echo, etc., which is interesting for young and old The views are spectacular and the garden is filled with native birds, plants, and flowers. There are many benches and picnic spots along the way. There is also a play area The garden is well kept and maintained. There are three different routes, stretching 3.5km, depending on your stamina and preference ‍‍ For me personally, it was a bit of a hard walk, with all the inclines, gravel, and probably worse of all: intense humidity! I did one of the three trails and would definitely come back in winter, when it's cooler, to do the other two, because it is awesome! They also change the sculptures and artworks, which means there's something new to explore every time you visit
An amazing place to take the family. A day pass cost us $35 for 2A, 3C. The walk was spaced out well with interactive displays, sound activated, and hands on for kids. With lots of beautiful plants and trees it is a real oasis away from the hustle of city life. Toilets at the garden center and one situated about mid way through the walk. Spots to rest, and play along the way. My kids loved both the metal birds and the real birds. I appreciated the bees and flowers along the walk. A map was provided for the walk, map was good quality and easy to read/view. On the downside I would have liked to have known about the annual pass while buying our tickets, $50, vs 1 visit for $35. Cafe on site, we didn't dine there as cook time was expected to be 15 minutes, but with a friend the wait and price would have been ok. Nice small play area for toddlers and preschoolers. I am hoping to go back again more times as it really is a lovely place to spend a day we spent approximately 3 hours here.
This is a great walk through the sculptures, cool exhibits, friendly team then treat yourself to a nice lunch. Not a huge choice of food but the prices were good and service excellent. The walk is easy, not suited to wheelchairs but not difficult. The musical bridge was my favourite but everyone will have their own
Amazing place to relax and enjoy, truly a hidden gem, here's here's few pictures to tempt you, definitely plan accordingly, take a packed lunch and lots of water. A place for children and adults. After things could be cleaned up or fixed but other than that excellent.
My daughter and I had a wonderful time at Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens. They had some interesting sculptures and had lawn games like skittles and mini golf which would keep the kids happy. There are 3 trails so you can decide how many you want to do. We only did the 1st trail 1km. It was relaxed and we could take our time. There is a garden centre and a cafe to look forward to, and you need to go to the quirky toilets. There are also some wonderful hanging indoor/outdoor ornaments you can purchase. Great for gifts. We bought some of their Kaipara Coast Honey. The staff we happy and very helpful. There is plenty of parking.
We haven't been here for over 10 years and it has changed but for the better. The walk itself and pathways are well kept and points if interest well sign posted. The sculptures look really good and engaging. The staff are friendly and helpful and the cafe area is clean and welcome after the walk. The plant centre had a lot to offer and we bought some swan plants for our Monarchs next season.
A pleasant surprise. Beautiful scenery; great autumn colours. Lovely sculpture and art trail. A good find. Will definitely visit again.
Decent enough sculpture gardens but the cafe is severely lacking and many of the sculptures are not very impressive. Was not worth the 1½h journey. Nice plant nursery.
Excellent place to visit... I loved the garden... Some of the sculptures will appeal to different people... They have games for the kids... I loved doing the walks
