With a proud history spanning over 130 years the Kaikorai Rugby Football Club has been a prominent Dunedin rugby Club active in the heart of the Community.
"We are not told who our forefathers are, but we know that in 1880-81, a number of boys used to kick a ball around in an area at the bottom of Flagstaff. The original maori derivation of Kaikorai comes from the word Kaikarae the name of the estuary and stream that weaves its way over Bishopscourt. This stream in the early days was bountiful and an abundant source of kai (food) for local maori and later on, for local inhabitants around the area.
Once a source for food and sustenance of life, now a source of recreation and community activity through the bonds of rugby, social interaction and mateship.
