If you're going to Stewart island, visiting this establishment is simply a must.nnI think it's partly because I'm British but I love a good fish and chips, so as you can imagine, in such a seaside location, I was very eager to try.nnI ended up going twice which tells you all you need to know, both of which times I got the battered blue cod.nnJust. Wow.nnBlue cod is quickly becoming one of my favourite types of fish and if you don't agree with me, then I'm sure the battered blue cod will sway you.nnTender, light, creamy and most of all, incredibly fresh, both times it was practically odourless, showing how fresh it was.nnIn addition, the batter of the fish was pretty much perfect, not too thick or thin, not too soft or too crunchy. Letting the blue cod shine front and center while still adding that all important texture.nnI have to give extra props for them for dusting the fish with a little bit of rock saltnnOut of either the chips, which I had the first time Or the potato wedges, which I had the second,nnThe wedges were the clear winner.nnCrunchier, fluffier with hint of spiced seasoning, they are the way to go in my opinion.nnHaving heard great things beforehand,nKai Kart certainly delivered, I'll be making a bee-line towards there when I come back.
Cool little takeaway place with generous serving of chips 1/2 a scoop was enough for 2! and the most delicious fresh blue cod burger! Service with a smile!
Had lovely fish and chips here last week. We ordered two grilled blue cod and one scoop of chips - due to the generous servings we probably would have been fine with half a scoop! Definitely a must do in Oban
Blue cod is so fresh! Tried the grilled blue cod the seasoning is just nice to not overpower the taste of fish. Portion is generous and foods serving is fast despite long queue.
I would say it probably is the best fish n chips I’ve ever had! The blue cod was a generous serving, so fresh with nice crispy batter. The mussels were ok. We ordered far too much, a half scoop chips is plenty for two.
