Super friendly team on the front desk and takeaway shop - best service! Nice big campsites, we got one right down the end away from the families which was good for us as a quiet couple though it was a bit of a walk to the facilities block. Didn't feel too overcrowded even while we were there at almost full capacity in the Christmas holidays. Facilities were good and never too busy. Easy access to the beach which was a lovely walk at sunset. We'll be back!
Nice location. Wonderful poweful 6minute showers . Phone coverage was intermittent. Great rally with the Wairarapa Caravan Club. The lounge suited our group meetings. Fortunately we had a little heater to warm the room. Look forward to returning with friends in the summertime
Pros: - Beautiful location & atmosphere - Kind workers Cons: - It seemed like no there was no sorting of garbage vs. recycling for store customers; everything went in the trash. The 2 large red bins outside presumably for garbage were filled with recyclable items. Disappointing to see, especially at such a pristine, beautiful part of Aotearoa. Worthy of 5-stars if recycling accessibility outside the store is improved.
Great Campground. Clean and very tidy. Great view to beach, unfortunately cant swim in it tho which was a bit disapointing. Owners are lovely. Helpful and accomodating. Would have given 5 stars if the Wifi hadnt kept dropping out. Needs better wifi coverage as in a mobile black spot for coverage as well. Maybe more repeaters? Overall a great holiday . Very relaxing. Worth the drive and visit.
Nice Camping Ground. Friendly Staff. Clean Bath and Basic Kitchen Area. Beach in Short walking Distance. 1$ for a shower. Not the best solution I would prefer a slight higher Price for a night
It's such a cool place to stay with kids. There were lots of doggies around, too. Facilities are adequate and functional, and grounds are well kept. Will be coming back.
We stayed in a self contained cabin. Space was fairly small and felt that kitchen and bathroom could have been cleaner.
Great camp in a peaceful small beach town not far from Wanganui. Good for swimming and fishing. Whanganui is a 15-minute drive boasting superb cafés, Saturday River Market, Virginia Lake, Kowhai Park, and lots more. The camp is not far away from the beach with a 5 minute walk, has a park for the kids in the actual campground as well as down closer to the beach. A grass picnic or BBQ area is also just down from the Kai Iwi Beach Holiday Park and closer to the beach itself. The campground has great space as well for bbq and picnics. Facilities are kept clean but are older. The only one thing to consider would be finding a slightly more hidden but still accessible recycle rubbish area and not having it so close to two bbqs and a large picnic table. The proprietors are easy to chat with and very obliging. You'll need to book very early for the summer season here because there are lots of local Whanganui people who love to stay too. Pet friendly at the campground also. Cricket is often played out on the beach here as there's sheltered space. Driftwood is collectible as the ocean sculpts it into wonderful garden pieces and a small momento of a Beach Holiday Park well worthy of a stay. Thanks for a wonderful weekend, and of course, we'll be back. Felt relaxed
Amazing camp,Bruce and Diane who run it are absolutely friendly and professional and the coffee and food at cafe are well matched as they are fantastic as well, toilets and showers are clean , plenty of hot water too, definitely go back some time
Primo zone with friendly owners and staff. Well priced campsites. Clean, functional facilities, wifi and just a short walk to a sweet beach. Old school NZ class allround
