The ‘Ka Tahi’ wine brand was launched just over a year ago by three partners who are landlords to, and 50% shareholders in the Hawke’s Bay Wine Company that is managed by Rod McDonald.
The name ‘Ka Tahi’ means ‘The One’ in Maori and has been activated for wine to complement the produce of the growing and food industries in which the partners are specialists. The wines are made by Rod McDonald who has assisted in sourcing the fruit.
While the wines include fruit from different regions, the aim is to be based in Hawke’s Bay. Ka Tahi owns vines in the Gimblett Gravels and fruit from these vines have gone into the second bottling of Merlot/Malbec. The other four wines are three whites and a Syrah from the 2015 vintage.
