A new Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre will be built next to Kāpiti College, providing an exciting community hub for performing and creative artists.
This page will inform the community about the progress of a new Kāpiti creative and performing arts centre to be built next to Kāpiti College.
The college plans to build a 330-seat performing arts centre for use by both the college and the Kāpiti Coast community. The college only needs a 200-seat theatre for its own use but has been urged by many members of the community to build a larger facility to meet the region’s needs.
The new arts centre will offer an affordable space for community performers; a 330-seat modern theatre with quality acoustics with a layout that is suitable for shows (with green rooms and practice areas) that will hopefully attract national acts.
Kāpiti College will gain classroom spaces for music and drama teaching, a black box theatre for drama performances and spaces for rehearsals and recording.
