Our vineyard restaurant features fresh local cuisine and beautiful boutique wines, overlooking the stunning Hunua Valley, near Clevedon in SE Auckland.

Story

Our vineyard, restaurant and gallery is lucky enough to sit on a gorgeous part of NZ, and only 35 mins SE Auckland central. Our menu is a combo of classic contemporary, and our vineyard tasting platter showcases some of our local area's amazing seasonal produce.

Come enjoy a glass of wine or boutique beer seated at our new outdoor bar overlooking the Hunua Valley, or dine in our relaxed indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Our outdoor wood-fired pizza oven runs hot when the weather does, and we have archery and clay target shooting for the more adventurous. We are also fully licensed, and our friendly service staff will make you feel right at home.

Our wine tasting area showcases the lovely range of wines we have, Rose, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. We also make a delicious Oak Aged Vintage Port - the real McCoy made with French Brandy!

Come for a drive - it's well worth it.

Delicious meal and nice atmosphere - I would go again! My partner had the burger and really enjoyed it I tried a few fries and they were yum and I had the puttanesca spaghetti, which was really fresh and well balanced. The serving staff were very friendly and the puddings delicious. What a treat to find this lovely place in almost the middle of nowhere !
The food was good. My family and I tried quite a number of dishes like the beef steak, beef steak with egg, the chicken, the burger and pasta. We also tasted the red wine. The beef steak at medium was not too chewy and enjoyable even without any additional sauces, however the size of the steak was a tad small. The chicken was interesting with the salsa on it. The burger was pretty decently sized big and the patty was soft and moist. Pasta was good and portion was definitely more filling than the steak. The service staff were very friendly. They got us seated us despite us arriving about approx 30 mins ahead of schedule. The waitress was all smiles and she did her best to get our drink orders before getting us the food menus. Do be prepared to wait for your food! We waited over an hour for our food. There was a crowd there when we were there. If you’re headed there, do go there in advance to order so that by the time the food arrive it wouldn’t be too hungry.
The fish and chips are crispy. Burger is also good. But the wines are so so. If you aimed for a place to chill and chat, here would be a great place. If you aimed for the wine, there will be some disappointment.
The Perfect Spot for that 10/10 experience. I have been here many times for lunch , dinner and activities with friends and family and this place always exceeds my expectations. The staff are always so welcoming and the drive is amazing with a beautiful scenery drive. Easy location to find and lots of parking . Our most recent visit we had lunch and it was delicious, we had entre of taco , fries and oysters, the oysters were so delicious we had to order more. For mains we had pizza and burgers and it was satisfying. Reasonable prices for the food and drinks. We also did archery and clay shooting which was so much fun. The wine tasting was the highlight for us , we had a taste of their reds and whites and wow! we couldnt decide which one we like the most so we bought a bottle of each wine to take home .. I mean why not! The service was amazing as always ! Overall I highly reccomend. of
We picked the restaurant venue for our work Christmas party. The food and the view were nice but thumbs down to customer service. The staff took the plates with food away without asking if we were finished. The deserts and main dish on the serving plates were taken away without asking anyone if we were to take it away or if we were finished. I am not going to take my family or friends here. Not coming back. There are other better place around that are customer-focused, approachable and with manners.
Very impressed in the team and John Hill estate- our servers the owner made us feel very welcome- thank you we had a lovely time we didn't want to leave- we will contact you to order wine.
We really recommend this place! The venue is beautiful, with a really nice terrace-style seating area overlooking at the vineyards. The food was superb, we tried the pork scalopini and the curry; which were both delicious. Also good selection of starters and desserts, we were really happy with our lunch and the service received.

I will recommend this winery to have a good wine and share a good time with friends, family or with your partner. I prefer red wines, I I tried the merlot and syrah, both have different personality and great flavour. Good Job. I will not recommend this place to eat because of the service. It is really slow, even when is not that busy. They didn't have half of the things listed on the menu. Flavour of the food is nice, fresh and tasty but not excesive spices, so I found appropiate to enjoy the wine.
I'm always reluctant to review any business, but the experience I had today was put of this world exceptional from the customer experience, the food and to the scenery!
