Story

Wisdom begins in wonder. Socrates

I completed my Diploma of Early Childhood Education in 1995 and have enjoyed working in many different child care environments available to children in NZ, including centre based and home based.

EDEN childcare started in 2001 as a childcare centre called Key Wee Kids in Beachlands, Auckland.

This was my dream, to open my own high-quality boutique centre, which I did, and loved the experience this provided. As time has gone on over the years my professional philosophy has changed. I am still passionate about providing children with a rich, varied, magical childhood, in a setting where they are safe and cared for, and are free to explore and develop a connection with the people and places around them. I believe that education in natural settings - the beach, bush and our own back yards can help us provide this. I have seen the importance of giving children the time and space to form close bonds and connections with people, and allowing them to learn through their own adventures and experiences.

I wholeheartedly believe that home based care can provide these opportunities, and so, EDEN home- based child care was developed.
