We had a 60s York Stone fireplace and asked Jose from JG Fires to quote for its removal and replacement logburner. He was very prompt in quoting and very knowledgeable about our requirements. We chose a very minimal look which has modernised the whole room. The actual work which sounded daunting was carried out very professionally and cleanly. There was a slight scratch on the hearth which was hardly noticeable, but Jose pointed it out and immediately offered to replace the hearth or to reduce the price with considerable cost to himself. Absolutely no quibble. We have no hesitation in recommending J G Fires if you want a new fireplace installation. We now await the delivery of new carpet to complete the picture!
Please please do not use this fitter, he is a gambler and a con man. We paid him £3400 for the lining of 2 flues and to supply and fit 2 woodturning stoves. He lined the flues as agreed but left the flue liners too short so they required extensions. He then texted to say he had a gambling addiction and had left the country. We've seen nothing of him since. Had to buy the stoves again at our own expense.
We absolutely recommend José. He gave honest and helpful advice throughout, and was efficient and tidy when he worked. He is also incredibly kind. He fixed a bird box to the chimney for us when we realised we'd be displacing a nesting pair with the cowl. The birds have now moved into the box and our woodburner is perfect, so we're all happy.
Jose fitted our log burner and went above and beyond to meet mine and my girlfriends needs. He was happy to talk things through and discuss what we wanted and the best way to achieve that. He was very professional and used dust sheets all over to make sure everything was protected, not sure what he could of done better.
We contacted Jose regarding installation of a stove we have had for 3 years and never got round to installing! From start to finish Jose was fantastic with quoting, Staying in touch and his work was brilliant. Even went out of his way to get legs welded on our stove the same day of installation. I would defiantly recommend Jose! Thanks Again.
Jose installed a stove and did a great job. We paid him £850 for another stove and never saw him again. He texted to say he'd spent our money and gone to Spain. Wow.

If you are looking for a chimney flu fitter or log burner in Hastings or St Leonards José is the guy to call! We struggled to get impartial advice about our fireplace and whether we should install a log burner. We asked J. G. Fires to quote. José was full of brilliant professional advice, and is such a lovely guy. He even got up on our chimney there and then to remove a blockage, allowing us to use our open fire for the first time since we bought the house. We can now use this cost free solution while we decide whether to choose a log burner. I don't think we have ever had such great service and honest advice from a tradesperson! Thanks so much José, you are a real gem and we will be recommending you to everyone in East Sussex!
If I could give a minus I would. DO NOT USE. He stole our money for gambling. He said would pay back. He of course hasn't. Horrible Horrible man.
Like others have said Jose stole our deposit money to pay his gambling debts. Do not use
