Experience from start to finish has been absolutely great.nnSpecial thanks to Julia, the hostess, for keeping the kitchen's last order open for us until we arrived.nnJulia is very social and friendly and makes you feel welcomed at the restaurant. The ambience and environment of the restaurant are amazing. Service was outstanding, amazing explanation about meat selection and side, and desert selectionnnSerious compliments to the chef and the staff.nnIt's absolutely amazing.nnI'm definitely returning.nn
So much to enjoy about having a meal here - the attentive staff, superb wine menu and cocktails, and quality of the food. Very comfortable leather chairs.nnThe steaks were, as you'd expect, very good. Mum had the petite fillet mignon and it was melt in your mouth tender. I had the scotch - delicious but not quite as tender as I thought it would be.nnLoved the choice of side dishes - we had the roasted beetroot, seasonal greens brocollini and whipped potatoe.nnThe reserve Church Road Syrah was simply superb.nnStaff were attentive and helpful. My mum, who never tips, gave the server $20 .... so she must have been impressed!nnBring your credit card - it's expensive! But, probably one of the best places in Auckland for steak.nnAll up, we'd give the experience a 9/10 - almost everything you could want from a high quality steak meal.
I was visiting NZ for work and decided to dine by myself. The host was highly apologetic that even though I booked in, I had to wait for a table at the bar. I was offered a high table at the bar or to wait and thankfully I had a bottle of wine and then took up a table for one upstairs. The atmosphere was calm, warm and was absolutely fine for someone wanting to dine alone or with others.nnI tried an entree scallops and they were served nicely and tasted great. For main I decided to have the eye fillet and had this with the cafe de Paris butter with a side of beetroot, goats cheese and rocket. All together this was lovely, the steak was of great quality and very tasty. I did comment that there was little goats cheese but otherwise it was delicious.nnFor dessert I finished with the apple tart tartin and it was huge, well, plate sized and I was surprised by this as it was three times the size of my steak. I would have liked to be warned on the size as I felt guilty leaving any behind but I couldn't finish this.nnOverall, the staff were lovely, particularly the host was accommodating and help. My waiter was well aware and made sure my glass was always full. I look forward to eating here again, hopefully Queenstown next.
The staff were lovely and very welcoming. However, we had to wait 40 minutes for our steaks, which was a bit too long. We ordered the scotch and sirloin steaks, both cooked to medium rare, and they were well-prepared. The porcini butter served with the steaks is a must-try and really added to the flavor.
I went a couple of nights ago, and everything was amazing the steaks were perfectly cooked, and the sides were delicious. Julia and Pablo treated us really well; they were super friendly and attentive. Overall, it’s a great spot for anyone craving a good steak!
