Our party of five found the food to be delicious. However, the staff had no knowledge of their wines. The wine list was scant and we enjoyed neither the Pinot Gris one choice only nor the Chardonnay one choice only. I suggest that Japanese Kitchen adopt a BYO option for guests and, if concerned about losing money with this option, charge a higher corkage.
Just absolutely gorgeous and amazing. The restaurant situated down a small shop alley is quite a little wholesome experience. The building is not super fancy but the food for sure makes up, Japanese authentic food melts in your mouth. Price wise for the food is averagely expensive, but for Japanese food, Is normal. The staff where so friendly and inviting and I couldn't have asked for better service. Would highly recommend this as it's a great exclusive unknown little restaurant that needs to be known.

This our most visited Japanese Restaurant since we moved down here to Whanganui in 2015. It's always the best place to go in town when we want to treat ourselves or to celebrate for an special occasion xoxo best service here, very polite staffs and warm welcoming from thr owner. Highly recommended they have the widest range of food varieties from their Menu too. My favourite is their Beef Tataki lovely atmosphere dining outside
We were traveling through and spotted this place while walking through town and came back dinner. It's obviously a favorite with locals, they were greeted with gusto as they came in. Good food and plenty of it.
Amazing atmosphere. Super friendly staff. Very good quality food. Recommend: Teriyaki chicken, Seaweed salad, dinner set.
