Despite the reviews we headed to Jade as we were craving Chinese food. They did not disappoint. The food was flavorsome, and service prompt. We loved that it had the option to choose large or small dishes. We had a young guy serving us, polite and to the point. Yes it does lack ambience but I would definitely recommend this place if you are after good food.
Went on a weekday night, was really quiet and food was decent. Hot and sour soup a little too peppery, could do with less pepper. Overall pretty good.Food: 4/5
I was hesitant to try it after seeing the not so good review, but went ahead because we were craving for Chinese food. We didn't regret the decision. Everything was delicious by NZ/Aust standards. The duck was so tender and tasty and I highly recommend it! Sweet and sour pork as well as pork ribs were yummy too. Wanted to give 4 stars initially because it was slightly pricier, but food quality alone would be 5 stars. And I'm hoping I can help bring their ratings back up to do justice to their food.
Nice restaurant. We came in last minute with 34 of us as tour group. For me and my wife we ordered the mixed vegetables, wanton noodle soup and fried noodle with garlic, onions and capsicum. All tasted delicious. Spend NZ70 for 3 dishes.Food: 4/5
After seeing the low stars we were hesitant but I read through the recent reviews and we decided to give it a go. Let’s put it this way, I never make a review but after our wonderful experience I just had to help them out with a 5 star review. Jade Palace has some of the most authentic and fresh Chinese food I have ever had. Truly, this restaurant doesn’t deserve the low rating, it is outstanding! We even went there the following night!
Went here two days ago with my friend, waiting time from when we ordered to receiving our food was very slow. Disappointed with taste of won ton soup soup was bland and the crispy chicken had too much salt on.
surprisely good chinese food. the was very good. everything else we ordered was good too. the white rice was the best i ever had outside of asia. glad that we tried even though the google rating is very low.
When we reached the town it was late and this was the only restaurant open. Highly appreciated the manager who accepted our request and take our takeaway order for Vegetarian fried rice. The food was delicious and a bit spicy.
I’m sorry but this place is far from a palace. The young man serving was unfriendly, there was no hello how are you. No how was your meal, No charm. Just cold and empty ‘service’ After paying there was no thank you have a great rest of your evening. Just more weird silence. The prices are ridiculous at $28 a dish..regardless of location..the small portions and food quality is not good enough. The place was nearly empty but the 3 dishes ordered came out 1 at a time..with 2-5 minute wait in between. The decor is like a tacky wedding from 1990’s. The combination fried rice tasted good The satay chicken was not good The sweet and sour chicken tasted quite good but the battered pieces were slightly burnt. Luckily covered up with the sweet red sauce. Frying oil might needed to be replaced more regularly.
Great food so worth it. The wait is the only thing stopping this amazing food from having 5 stars. The wait was 1 hour minimum but as I said it was definitely worth it
