The vibe and aroma in this restaurant is what i expected in a normal Yakitori house. However the food was disappointing. I ordered the large skewers, it tasted bland, so I dipped into the sauce and it’s a bigger disappointment. The sauce tastes a bit bitter for both me and my partner. Not only that I ordered a salmon nigiri and California roll But I’ve never seen a sushi presentation looks this bad !!!!! What’s with the two piece of salmon laying on top of the whole roll ???? The rice was so soggy that it’s even visible the rice is loosing its shape and blend as a whole If I had a choice I will not come here again
Slightly disappointed. The sashimi is not fresh at all, likely due to close to the Christmas break. We ordered the large sashimi and couldn't finish any of the taco, white fish, tuna nor salmon sashimi. Other dishes like grills and small dishes are to the isakaya standard, slightly towards the pricy end for the small portion you get. For example, 4 takoyaki for $8, a very small vege okonomiyaki for $12. Probably won't come back again.
Great food and loved the BBQ sticks with authentic mild smokey flavour. Really enjoyed and surprisingly not expensive.
Great little spot for some great food. The chef threw a couple of recommendations too which were delicious. It seemed rather cheap as well. Food was delicious and in good quantityFood: 5/5
Food is good, however if you looking for something filling, the small tasting dishes quickly add up in price. Atmosphere is good, however can get smokey due to kitchen near seating, and possibly ineffective extractors. On one visit a small metal rivet was found in a bowl of suce, and the server just shrugged it off. There are better value-for-money japanese eateries nearby.
great atmosphere, mosy authentic japanse food experience ive ever had!! and extremely delicious food- would definitely recommend
Hands down best Japanese restaurant in Dunedin! Lots of small dishes that are all unique and tasty, you gotta try them all. The vibes in here are insane too
Nice staff and atmosphere. Food was average. Seafood okanomiyaki was all chunky cabbage and teeny tiny seafood. Not sure how you can serve raw vege skewers but cook the meat ones ok precook and then reheat on the grill for the meat?. In leaving, a man sitting down at the next table asked "how was it?". I could only grimace and shrug. Appreciated the staff member asking I'd I'd like a drink top up.
Im writing this due to I really miss the foods. I went here a few months ago. it was amazing meals
Yuki is a great dining experience, I really enjoyed my meal. The Takoyaki was amazing, on a cold night I really enjoyed having my warm sake with my meal.
