I had a fantastic experience sailing from Wellington to Picton with Interislander. The staff were all friendly and I felt safe throughout the entire voyage. Some highlights:nn- Getting to explore the entire ship and see the many amenities, like different food options, seating areas, entertainment options, private cabins, and more.n- The fish and chips from the restaurant. Fantastic food with amazing views as the ship arrived at the edge of the South Island.n- The views from the sightseeing deck. The only problem was the intense wind at times, but you can just adjust where you’re standing and it isn’t as windy.n- The 3.5 hour sailing time is long, but there is lots of comfy seating and different options to pass the time.nnOverall had a great experience and would definitely sail again in the future.
First time driving a car onto a ferry, and it was a smooth, well-oiled process. Ferry itself was clean, staff was friendly, and the experience was great. Observation deck was closed due to a storm moving in, but not before I got some great views of Picton and the south island. They did open a lower deck door which was great, and I just enjoyed the fresh air.
Great trip along the Queen Charlotte Sound, like a cruise! Ample viewing positions on the upper deck. Unfortunately the original ship had technical problems, the replacement was 3 hours later. And I heard from locals these delays are quite common, so NOTE THIS if you are on a tight schedule l for instance arrived at my hotel after 10pm
Wonderful trip. Great views. Easy to drive on and off. Lots of comfy seating. On time. Just great.
The ferry was late by 90 minutes and by the sounds of things we were lucky to get on. Loading and unloading is done with no sense of urgency. Book ahead to avoid the disappointment.
