Story

Established in 1996, iguana is located in the heart of Hamilton's cafe and restaurant mecca at the south end of Victoria street. The restaurant features warm timber floors and early century tin ceilings and these are complemented by our candle lit atmosphere and cosy garden bar.

Our open kitchen gives the restaurant a casual, yet upmarket feel, where you can relax and see our chef's prepare your meals using the freshest ingredients. Our food is complimented by a list of wines and our iguana bar has a lot to offer in the way of cocktails, spirits and specialty beers.

If you are looking for a group meal that will have something for everyone then Iguana is one of those places. It’s been around since as long as I can remember, from my poor student days til now. They have daily specials, from all you can eat ribs to steak nights. They do a decent pizza. All their desserts are pretty good. I’ve been here for brunches, lunches and dinners and I would say it’s a good place for most types of gatherings.

I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant, stunning food absolutely amazing customer service so happy and cheerful ,even give us a free dessert platter as they were running late with my pasta dish, definitely will be back when visiting Hamilton again,  thank you so much we all had a great time     Kid-friendliness: Great with the kids   Parking: Parking right outside amazing

Been a couple times for lunch, food is delicious, service is efficient and excellent. Really good daily deals. I would highly recommend.Food: 5/5

First time dining here with 3 children. Medium to high price but great value, lovely staff and a wonderful place to treat the family.  Kids can choose from: - Crumbled chicken pattie - Crumbled fish - Hawaiian Pizza - Bacon carbonara - Vegetarian fritters All served with fries, salad and tomato sauce $15.50 including an cream sundae - chocolate, caramel, strawberry and vanilla.  We got a pitcher of soda for $12.50 4 people could have 2 small drinks each from it.  For adults they offer a 2 for deal for $50.50 can choose: - 1 entree and 1 main or - 1 main and 1 dessert Excluding the platters if you go on a Tues desserts and cocktails are $7 each so the entree and main is the better option with a $7 dessert, making a 3 course meal $57.50 per person   Kids also get a coloring sheet and color pencils to color in while you wait and they can enter it into their monthly competition and win a free meal.  Best to book a table in advance as it is very popular and can get busy. Wheelchair accessible, highchairs available and bathroom on site.  Open 11.30am-11pm daily public holiday hours may differ  Our meals were worth every penny, seafood chowder is an absolute MUST and the staff are absolutely fantastic.

Wow! Just Wow! I'm so glad we chose Iguana tonight. Service was really polite and friendly. The food was superb. I had a medium-rare Scotch Fillet that was cooked to perfection, and the blue cheese sauce was sublime! Portion sizes were more than generous. Deserts were awesome. We'll definitely be going back.Food: 5/5

The food here is amazing. We had the platter as the starter as it had a lot of the starters that we wanted to try. I had the eye fillet steak which was nice, a little on the rare side but I prefer my steak rarer than overcooked so no complaints there. Dessert was amazing. We had the banoffee pizza. This place would have easily been a 5 star but unfortunately had to wait 15 minutes for brandy snaps and the alcohol drinks were quite strong. Overall, totally recommend and will be back!

This place is quite noisy. I guess regular patrons don't mind about the noise. Service for us was quite slow. We were 8 in number and three of us received their drinks but the rest were waiting for theirs. All ordering is done digitally. They have specials each day. The good thing is this place does not smell of beer. There is a fireplace and a big selection of alcoholic drinks. We approached them twice about our orders but still waited a good 20 minutes for it to come through. I wish they would bring all the drinks together and the food together so we can start together. The food was good. Hopefully next time, we will have excellent service. Cheers

Came here for my daughters 11th birthday. The waiter we had was fantastic. Food was out at a reasonable speed and food was pretty good. I will definitely be back! Keep up the great work guys  Vegetarian options: And great vegetarian options for my daughter who is very fussy !  Kid-friendliness: Great for kids

I had the seafood chowder and it was a massive bowl for an Entree! My family ordered steaks and they enjoyed it all :Food: 5/5
