What do you expect paying the cheapest? It was good that paying less $100 for the room at the central city. If you want to better room ? You should go and spend for $200 + hotel , not here. Some people ordered fast takeaway and expecting 5 start restaurant meal ? It doesn’t make sense
Honestly one of the nicest budget stays we have had in Auckland. We choose budget because we aren't fussed about fancy frills, we just want a simple place to sleep that gives easy access to the central city . Some of the cheaper places we've stayed in Auckland were a nightmare but the ibis budget was a pleasant surprise! Amazing central location. Close to Queen Street for food and shopping. Easy to get to the trains and busses. The room was small but pleasant. There was a TV, heater, and fan that all worked! Never had that before haha. Even a nice little balcony for a view to some of the tall buildings outside. The only downside was the shower was awful, not seperated at all and impossible not to get the entire bathroom floor wet with the shower curtain that wasn't big enough and barely did anything. Other than that everything was fair or better for a budget hotel and we had a good night's sleep.
Mixed feelings. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Wifi was good, staff were friendly and the room had air con / heat pump. On the negative side there was a sewerage smell emanating from the toilet that would build over time as I mentioned, everything was immaculately clean - not overpowering but definitely there and noticeable upon entering the room - suspect an issue with the plumbing in the building. Shower curtain was covered in black stains and has holes in it - needs replacing. Same goes for the ironing board cover. My card key stopped working multiple times and had to be recoded by reception. The room, while serviceable was not of the quality I’d expect from a chain hotel and was worth nowhere near the $220 per night I paid. I’d consider coming back only if it were substantially cheaper.
First our booking couldn't be found, annoying! Our initial room was absolutely foul! You could smell it before you noticed the stained valances, tried to have a coffee, the sachets were almost rock solid, the room was dark and dingy! "Lvl 12 rm3" After going back to the lobby, we were given another room which was great and what I expected, fresh, clean and modernish. The best part about this stay was the complimentary breakfast which was at a Cafe a few doors down "koffee bar" Rooms: There is definitely a difference in what you pay for. For $161 a night, I did expect more, especially the first room spew!
Ibis Budget City is an excellent choice for budget travelers. Its location is superb, offering easy access to various attractions and amenities. Although there's no free parking, there are commercial parking options nearby. The rooms may be small and the furniture slightly aged, but they are well-equipped, including a cooking space requires assistance from the service desk and a microwave oven. The hotel provides a practical and convenient setup for guests on a budget. Moreover, the customer service is commendable, ensuring a pleasant stay. If you're seeking an affordable accommodation option with great amenities and helpful staff, Ibis Budget City is a solid choice. Equipment: Location: Customer service:
The only real good point about this hotel is location. It’s near good restaurants, easy access to public transport and in front of a parking, if you have a car… The service was average… polite staff, nothing that you wouldn’t expect However, the rooms.. the hotel needs an urgent update! It was really disappointing :/ The walls need a new painting, as well as some renovations in the bathroom… They also don’t offer common amenities like hair dryers, desk, air conditioning! There is only a fan and a “heater”… I’ve been in some Ibis in other countries, and that’s the first time I was this disappointed…
I tried not to be judgemental when I saw the place, but after seeing our room, it went downhill really quickly. I know this is budget accommodation, but this place needs a really good makeover. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We had a shoebox for a room. Not a lot of natural light. Entire bathroom was tiny and smelt musty as no natural light or ventilation. Our noisy bedroom fan hadn't been cleaned since the day it had been installed. The extractor fan in the bathroom was also dirty. Bath towel each and a hand towel between the two of us. No face cloth. The only saving grace were the reception staff who were friendly and helpful. Rooms: Rooms need a total makeover. Nearby activities: Close to transportation and activities. Walkability: We could walk to lots of attractions. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the area. Food & drinks: Tea and coffee in general common area downstairs. Breakfast off site.
Arrived for 3 days and extremely disappointed. Our first room was dirty, with stains all over mattress base cover, half finished can of drink in fridge and dirty bathroom. Our next room, whilst clean was in a very poor condition. Not enough cups, spoons or glasses very faulty towers without the charm. Definitely not up to par with the Ibis brand.
Overall, it was a ok stay. Room was tiny as though and smelt like pee but we were only there for a night so didn't bother us too much, checking in was easy. Wasn't too busy, but getting there was tough because of the road closures. Ended up parking a couple streets over in some different parking even though I did pre pay to stay at there parking. Otherwise it was great, staff said they were going to reimburse us for the parking but we said were OK since we weren't there for long. Walkability: Located right in the heart of the city so there's lots of places to see and shops to buy from.
Did not like this budget hotel at all. Made me think about, you get what you pay for. Room was cramped and small. Not clean including the wall fan. No A/C so had to have the window and tiny balcony door open for fresh air. Noisy location as people on the streets used the near by pubs/clubs to shoutout and with windows open in came the noise. The gentleman on duty at the front desk was very helpful and to my surprise he worked a 16 hour day both days that l stated at the hotel. Staffing was a problem and he was quite calm and happy to perform his duties. If you can find a better hotel do so, not all Ibis hotel are as bad as l hae rated this one. Oh and if you have breakfast, you have to go to a cafe up the street, not a bad place quite quirky and good service with a special menu for the Ibis mob.
