An iconic landmark since the 1970s.nnAlso an important part of Huntly's community as a major employer for so many not enough? years.nnOnce upon a time vapour was visible from the chimney stacks and always used as a point of reference time-wise for trip to/from Auckland/Hamilton.nnA clear unobstructed view of chimneys and building can be seen from Huntly Visitor Centre on the main road north south.
Good chip factory, but when i was touring, the big potato fell of the roof and exploded
Tours use to be offered back in the day, however they discontinued that, these days only way in is if you are an employee of Genesis energy.nnNZ biggest coal/gas generator that is used for back up on dry spells or peak demand. Although it is coal/gas burn, that is filtered out finely to ensure minimal environmental impact. Hence the reason why you can see Ash from the chimneysnnHas 6 turbines with unit 5 and 6 being the strongest and most recent additions.nnAmazing piece of history :

This is a great power station, I've been driving past ever since I was a kid. Sometimes I take photos standing with it in the background.
