We happened to be in Fairlie and my wife decided to try Indian food from the hungry birds food truck run by a friendly Indian couple. I have to say I was taken aback at how tasty and authentic it was, we had the curry, rice & naan butter chicken combo with kiwi spice level. The fragrance of the curry, spiciness and herbs reminded me of the dishes I had in India considering the kitchen is operated from a food truck toonnThe kiwi spice level was just right for me, despite being quite spicy for a non spice person like myself but manageable.nnWill definitely drop again if I’m near Fairlie for an authentic Indian cuisine in New Zealand
One of those local hidden gems, highly recommend if you're looking for a Indian dish to take out in Fairlie region. Tried lamb korma with garlic nan, can say flavors were authentic. Really nice guy to talk as well, I wish him the very best.
Great portions and authentic Indian. Lamb Korma was excellent and Butter chicken was nice and sweet. Will definitely have again.
Had their chicken burger and my husband had their beef burger and man alive does this couple deserve the five stars. They really care about the quality and your experience when you enjoy the meal. Highly recommend and wish we could come back and have more we are only visiting NZ.
Well, what a find. We were driving home from Otago to Chch wondering where we could stop in Fairlie to find food that would be available fairly quickly and ideally not pub grub. We saw the caravan and stopped as it looked clean and inviting. We were super impressed with how helpful the owner was and had a delicious meal within 20 minutes. I had paneer tikka masala - it was great flavour with well balanced spice, so it had heat but not too much. My husband had chicken korma and pizza for the 8 yo. Really great find. We’re not local so unlikely to visit here on a regular basis but if we were travelling south, we would definitely go out of our way to stop here again. Delicious food. Great service.
