One of the best exhibition end the past few years in my life. This is a must with visit museum in Whangārei. The colour the lies and those fascinating arts pieces provoked my thinking. Suggest you to spend at least a couple hours here. There are free car park at the end of road The strand, close the end of the sculpture walkway it will save you some parking money.
What an amazing place! I had known a little about him from some art history classes, but what a treat to delve deeply into his passion for color, the environment, and his attitude for life. The building itself is beyond description, you have to visit.nThe unbelievable unexpected addition was the cafe, which served me one of the finest meals I've had in the 2 months I've been in New Zealand. Service was over the top, both at the front desk and in the cafe.nPlan a day if you're in Whangarei, go and enjoy this place!
Love this place. So well built and inspiring. Lovely angles and surfaces, colours and shapes. Hundertwasser was an interesting and creative genius. We are so blessed to be able to be surrounded by his art even those of us who never met him. Great cafes and excellent treasures to buy
I knew very little about Hundertwasser going in, but I was so intrigued by the architecture, I had to check it out. This is a unique and special experience, as you wander around inside his art for an hour or so. The garden roof really tops off the experience, especially looking down below at his beautiful, mosaic courtyard. The Māori art gallery was almost empty and a stark contrast to Hundertwasser’s collection — hopefully it will have more when I go back one day.
Really fascinating gallery. Hundertwasser had some great ideas and it's nice to see the gallery display them and uphold them. It was a tiny bit smaller than I expected and so as budget travellers it wasn't the cheapest $30NZD. But that being said, it was lovely, the cafe was nice and I'm sure the money goes to the upkeep. Would recommend a visit for those interested in art and architecture.
