The B&B is located in an old, charming, well-maintained Victorian mansion, which makes you feel like staying in the 19 century with all the comforts of now. Our room was gorgeous, comfortable, spacious, and clean. There was an excellent free parking on premises and the B&B's central location made it an easy stroll down into town. Breakfast was good, and sharing it with Solstice, the black pet cat, made it just purrfect! Zina, the owner, was super friendly, pleasant, and helpful. We loved our stay at Hulmes Court and would definitely come back again!
Lovely building but needs to be renovated, updated and restored. Furnishings are dated and chattels cheap, this giving it a backpacker feel. Just under 100 makes it doable. A sign is needed out the front so people know where the main entrance is. I went down to back entrance and almost scared the poor woman sitting at the back entrance.
This is a beautiful historic guesthouse which is really clean and full of charm with bright airy rooms, comfy beds and great views of the Cathedral from the second floor rooms. Very well located a short walk to the city centre octagon. Zina the host was really friendly and helpful.
Really good cosy b & b. Great selection of cold breakfast . Room was lovely, clean & comfortable. There is access to a fridge if you want to store perishables. Host was very friendly. Check in was super easy. Located centrally for everything. Would recommend & stay again.
I would describe it as a quaint Victorian house. It has on site parking and breakfast and wifi. The heat in the rooms is just ok. Staff very friendly. It is old and tired and a bit of a rabbit warren. Feels like a slight step up from a back packers. Our room has its own bathroom which was good but a little odd in its execution. There was a map on the bed for us when we arrived which I thought was great. If you are up for something a little different this one could be for you.
Great location & price. Staff is very kind and friendly. Although the building is little old, the room is still clean and cozy. Has free breakfast make us amazing and happy.
Quiet BnB. Comfy bed but tiny bathroom and the breakfast was poor. No hot food except toast and very basic otherwise. Handy for town but down/back up a VERY steep hill to get to it and back. Driveway also VERY steep so not great for the less able.
Great restored Victorian-era house. The house is gorgeous and they did a good job of maintaining the décor. They have a carpark, but the driveway is quite steep, so I ended up parking on the street in front it was free the evening I arrived into the next day. Quick and nice check-in and the room I got was comfortable. I had the rose room, so it overlooked the rose bushes of the little sitting garden on the first floor, which was nice. The shared bathrooms were clean, though I had to go and use the one on the 2nd flr a few times as the one on the 1st flr right by my room seemed to constantly be occupied. The continental breakfast with toast, jams, coffee and fruit was nice when leaving the next day. My only complaint would be they need to advise that there is a cat in the house. I wondered why I was having some allergy issues that evening into the next morning when I saw the cat in the dining room where the continental breakfast was served, the next day. I am highly allergic to cats, so this probably would have affected my making a reservation here had I known that. Thankfully, I did not have a full-blown allergy attack and was able to enjoy my stay, but because several people may have similar allergies, this may be something to disclose on the reservation sites I made my booking through Orbitz.
Hard to find a bad thing to say about this place. Warm, comfortable, relaxed. I love the added touch of a friendly cat. Bathrooms are a bit cramped. But then it's an old bungalow.
It's like staying at your Grandmother's... if she was poor and had no taste. Ideal if you want "quaint" and not luxury. Don't recommend going in winter as there is very limited/no heating facilities or mod cons It was -4 degrees and I had only the cat and a crocheted blanket from 1892 to keep warm! Not to mention slippery steep road and driveway. As far as entertainment goes I was treated to an extensive collection of vintage VHS cassette tapes that defied entertainment at the best of times. Bordering on miserable - Fine if you enjoy a bit of misery. I've stayed here twice before. Would have given one star but the cat makes it worth two.
