Story

A Huka-vízesés vízesések sorozata a Waikato-folyón, mely a Taupói-tóba torkollik Új-Zélandon. A folyó egy néhány száz méteres szakaszon egy mindösszesen 15 méter széles kanyonon vág át, mely a Taupói-tó korábbi tófenekébe vájódott, amely az Oranui-kitörés során keletkezett mintegy 26 500 évvel ezelőtt.Az áthaladó vízmennyiség gyakran eléri a 220 000 liter/másodperc értéket. Az átáramló víz mennyiségét a folyón létesített Mighty River Power és a tavon létrehozott Taupo Control Gate által szabályozzák.A vízeséssorozat felső részén néhány kisebb vízesés található, melyek együttesen 8 métert zuhannak, majd az utolsó tagnál hat méternyi esés következik a folyón. The first time I heard of the Huka falls I was expecting those picturesque falls you see everywhere but this is nothing like the rest. Super easy to get to with the car or shuttle and take the loop walk or even bike ride - there are bike rentals nearby too!
Free outdoors attraction. We went after gates closed but can easily walk in and park outside gates off road. Stunning falls and a few different walks to take. The main walk to the falls only takes a couple of minutes
Amazing experience. Looking at the fall from top as well as going for the river cruise up to the fall, both these are great to view. Serene place, well maintained and must visit place in New Zealand. Adequate parking. Short drive from Taupo.
Always a great little experience for the kids. The walk is short and easy, with good views of the Falls. The water is beautiful and fast flowing, and good to see the jet boat taking tourists really close to the bottom of the waterfall.
A really awesome place to visit at your own leisure. Also there are other places nearby to visit. Very enjoyable
This is a must do when in Taupo. It is always different, but still great safe parking and viewing spots. We always stop in.
Used to be able buy drinks and ice blocks but not open anymore. Not sure if just a season thing. Good place for a quick stop and photo op
Very nice and soothing place. Can stand there forever and look at the fast flowing water.
