Welcome to the Houghton Valley School page - keeping our school and community connected.
Hello and welcome, Kia ora Koutou
The Home and School provides an important link for parents, caregivers, the community, teachers and the Board of Trustees to work together to achieve shared goals that enhance the learning experiences of our children.
We facilitate opportunities for parents and caregivers to get to know each other better and to be involved in the school. Our goals are to organise social events and fundraising activities that are fun and interesting and brings the school community closer together. The money raised from these social events provide additional resources and facilities for the school which are not funded by the Ministry of Education.
If you have a child in the school you are automatically a part of the Home and School community. How much you want to contribute is your decision. You can be involved in as little or as much as you like and we welcome all parents, caregivers and teachers to come along to our meetings and events. Most of us feel we get back much more than we thought we would!
Meetings:
At HVHSA meetings we talk about how to improve/enrich the learning environment within the school, create new opportunities for our kids and build the school community. Our meetings are fun and productive. We make sure there are many opportunities for people to be involved and build relationships. Representatives from the Board of Trustees and staff meet with us to keep information flowing about what is happening at the school.
We meet monthly to talk about events. Information is then passed on through the school newsletter, on our webpage, and in the minutes of our meetings. Meetings are held monthly at 7.30pm in the school staff room. If it is your first time attending, you can check the date and time in the school newsletter, on the school webpage, or by emailing the secretary.
