We stopped off in Te Anau on our way to Milford Sound and our tour bus dropped us off at Hollyford Cafe for a quick 15mins break to use the facilities and grab some snacks / meals. I had the venison and mushroom pie, it was really good. Tasty and generous filling and the pastry was buttery and flaky. Inside and outdoor seating available and facilities are clean.
The seating area is large. Staff is friendly. Located in Te Anau, this cafe offers cabinet foods and freshly prepared meals. On the way from Queenstown to Milford Sound, this is a nice place to take a rest. There is a souvenir shop with a wide selection of items.
Had a quick breakfast here and really enjoyed it. I had the avocado, mushroom and edamame beans on toast, highly recommended. Lots of space and seating and friendly staff. Lucky enough to arrive just before a whole bus load of people arrived!
When I ordered my food, I was told that there would be a half hour wait. Ultimately it took just over an hour before the food arrived at my table. I can't understand why bacon and eggs took so long to prepare, there weren't even many customers in the place. The food was quite mediocre, once I finally got to savour it. My advice, don't go there....
Beautiful location, close to the lake. Ordered avo toast & ate it on my way to Milford Sound. Absolutely delicious food! Will definitely be back next time I visit Te Anau!
Came for breakfast. We had the eggs benedict and bacon and eggs with a flat white and an espresso. The food and coffee was great, poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Service was fast and efficient when the whole town is clearly struggling for staff. Also the wifi was quick!Food: 5/5
A nice place to take a rest on the midway from Queenstown to Milford sound. A plenty of choices of foods and drinks are available in the Cafe. Also, there is a souvenir shop with plenty of goods. The toilet is quite clean and offer hot water for hand washing very important in cold weather.
Banana bread - good Coffee - ok Cheese scone - bad. Plenty of seating. Friendly staff
The food is all better than expected for such a remote area, but if you are staying in the area and want to get an early start, they don’t serve breakfast meals until all of the busses go through at 10:30. So hopefully all you need is a muffin and a coffee. It kinda ruined two of our days, but what can you do if you aren’t staying in a place with a kitchen?
Ordered the pancakes. When they came out they looked like breakfast muffins that hadn't been cooked. They were doughy and cold. We took them back amd they offered to reheat them!! The admitted that they were pre-made. Got our refund and left. Would never go back
