Very nice and friendly staff willing to help you
We asked for some short walks we could do with our little one after visiting the beautiful Hokitika Gorge that morning. We were given the usual "have you seen our map?" talk, which was somewhat handy as we already had access to the Hokitika map. Unfortunately, we weren't given real guidance as the suggestions ranged from the swimming pool to a daycare/indoor play area that was closed. Although this particular staff member wasn't very knowledgeable about walks in Hokitika, other staff members seemed to have attempted to help her out. It's difficult in this instance to rate my experience any higher, as this was the low point of our trip.
Great centre, greeted as we walked in, assisted with our needs, even helped us out with DOC info and Topo maps, got the one I wanted, then the instore AA store helped us with our Diesel Kilometers. Both staff spot on.
22 Residents from Arvida Park Lane Retirement Village in Christchurch were involved in a Mystery Tour this week, staying in Hokitika for 2 nights. They had no idea where they were going or where they were staying, or what they would be doing. We had a fabulous time, Lake Kaniere, Hokitika Gorge, Lake Mahinipua, Empire Hotel in Ross Veller was there to play the piano for us, Treetop Walk and Zipline and the old Stafford Cemetery. Stayed at the Hokitika Kiwi Holiday Park, best place to stay. Plus a couple of nights out at Stumpers. Feedback sought from those travelling was was rated at 98%. Even had a video made of the trip. Visiting the West Coast is a must do. Thanks for the hospitality, it was a memorable experience
Great staff who know about Red Wheelchairs that can get people into bush and forests. Hokitika Gorge is accessABLE in these Red Wheelchairs.
Went here hoping for information about a hike and was meet with an unhelpful condescending staff member. She had little information to offer, nor did she even try to be helpful, about our hike except to imply we were underprepared. A shame we couldn’t get the information we needed from here, thankful the doc office in Franz Josef was more helpful by telephone.
The ladies were so helpful and nice, they knew about everything around the place!
Thanks to Lisa and Caitlin for your time and for connecting me with Bruce, and with helping me to connect with information and services in Hokitika. My family and I had a brief but enjoyable stay in Hokitika and we are planning to return again. I look forward to developing a closer working relationship with you all.
